F07923Drive: Torque/speed too low

What it means

F07923 is raised by the drive's load monitoring when the monitored value stays below what the function expects. Which quantity is monitored is set in p2193: with p2193 = 1 the drive watches the torque against the torque/speed envelope characteristic, with p2193 = 2 it compares the speed signal of an external encoder (connected via p3230) with the smoothed actual speed r2169. When either value deviates on the low side, the fault is raised and the drive is stopped; it must be acknowledged before it will restart.

The manuals for S120/S150 and G130/G150 list this fault only for the envelope (torque) variant, for SERVO and VECTOR drive objects, while the G120 and G120XA manuals describe both variants.

Why it appears

  • With p2193 = 1: the torque has fallen below the torque/speed envelope characteristic.
  • With p2193 = 2: the speed signal from the external encoder (signal source p3230) reads a lower speed than the smoothed actual speed in r2169.

What to check

  1. Check the connection between the motor and the load.
  2. Adapt the load monitoring parameterization to the load actually driven — the monitoring variant in p2193 and, for the encoder comparison, the speed signal source in p3230.

Parameters the manual names

  • p2193 — load monitoring configuration: with setting 1 the fault is evaluated against the torque/speed envelope characteristic, with setting 2 against the external encoder speed signal.
  • p3230 — signal source (CI) for the load monitoring speed actual value: the interconnection through which the external encoder speed reaches the comparison of the p2193 = 2 variant.
  • r2169 — smoothed actual speed (CO): the drive's own speed value that the external encoder signal is compared against.

Acknowledging and restarting

Once the cause has been corrected, acknowledge the fault; the drive will then start again.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07923 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It is a load monitoring fault: the monitored value has dropped too low. With p2193 = 1 the torque left the torque/speed envelope characteristic, with p2193 = 2 the speed signal of the external encoder reads lower than the smoothed actual speed r2169.

How is F07923 reset?

Check the connection between the motor and the load and adapt the load monitoring parameterization to the actual load, then acknowledge the fault — the drive will then start again.

Which parameters are relevant for F07923?

p2193 selects the monitoring variant, p3230 is the signal source for the external encoder speed in the speed comparison, and r2169 supplies the smoothed actual speed that the comparison uses.

On which drives does F07923 appear?

It is described for G115D, G120, G120C, G120XA, G130, G150, S120 and S150. The S120/S150 and G130/G150 manuals list it only for the envelope variant, for SERVO and VECTOR drive objects.
