What it means
F30015 means the power unit has detected a phase failure in the motor feeder cable, i.e. one motor phase is not carrying its share of the current. Note that chassis power units do not feature phase failure monitoring, so the message only comes from units that actually monitor the motor cable.
Depending on how the message is configured, the same condition can also be output with no reaction (N) or as an alarm (A).
Why it appears
- A phase failure was detected in the motor feeder cable — the condition the monitoring is designed for.
- On VECTOR drive objects the signal can also be output although the motor is correctly connected: the drive has stalled in U/f control, and a current of 0 A is then possibly measured in one phase because of the asymmetry of the currents.
- The motor is correctly connected, but the closed-loop speed control is instable and therefore an oscillating torque is generated. On SERVO drive objects this instability case is the only alternative cause the manual lists.
What to check
- Check the motor feeder cables.
- If the drive stalled in U/f control, increase the ramp-up or ramp-down time p1120.
- Check the speed controller settings.
Parameters the manual names
- p1120 — ramp-function generator (RFG) ramp-up time; increase it when the fault occurs because the drive has stalled in U/f control.
Acknowledging and restarting
By default the drive coasts down (OFF2) when this fault trips, and the message must be acknowledged immediately before the drive can be restarted. Where the same condition is configured as an alarm or to appear without any reaction, no acknowledgement is required.

Questions technicians ask
What does fault F30015 mean on a SINAMICS drive?
The power unit has detected a phase failure in the motor feeder cable. The manual also lists cases where the motor is correctly connected: a stall in U/f control or an unstable closed-loop speed control producing an oscillating torque.
Can F30015 appear even though the motor cable is intact?
Yes. On VECTOR drive objects the signal also comes if the drive stalls in U/f control, with a current of 0 A possibly measured in one phase due to the asymmetry of the currents, and on all listed drive objects if the speed control is instable.
Which parameter helps against F30015?
p1120, the ramp-function generator ramp-up time — increase the ramp-up or ramp-down time if the drive stalled in U/f control. Also check the speed controller settings.
Do all SINAMICS power units monitor the motor cable?
No. Chassis power units do not feature phase failure monitoring, so F30015 is only raised by power units that have this monitoring.
