What it means
F30017 is raised by the power unit and has two different meanings depending on the drive object. On infeed units, Motor Modules and on G120/G120XA it means that the hardware current limitation in the relevant phase — the phase can be identified via the alarms A30031, A30032 and A30033 — has responded too often. How often the limit may respond depends on the design and type of the power unit. On the HLA drive object the code means instead that the 26.5 V supply voltage for the Hydraulic Module (X271) is faulty; the permissible range is 26.0 ... 27.0 V, and the drive only detects this on a drive that has been enabled.
Why it appears
- Infeed unit: the closed-loop control is parameterized incorrectly; the load on the infeed is too high; the optional Voltage Sensing Module is incorrectly connected; the line reactor is missing or is the incorrect type; the power unit is defective.
- Motor Module — the same list of causes is printed for G120 and G120XA: the closed-loop control is parameterized incorrectly; there is a fault in the motor or in the power cables; the power cables exceed the maximum permissible length; the motor load is too high; the power unit is defective.
- HLA: for a drive that has been enabled, the 26.5 V supply voltage for the Hydraulic Module (X271) is outside the permissible range of 26.0 ... 27.0 V.
What to check
- Establish whether the fault came from an infeed unit, a Motor Module (or G120/G120XA) or the HLA, and read the phase or the voltage from r0949 (see the fault value below).
- Infeed unit: check the controller settings and, if necessary, reset and identify the controller (p0340 = 2, p3410 = 5).
- Infeed unit: reduce the load and, if necessary, increase the DC link capacitance or use a higher-rating infeed.
- Infeed unit: check the connection of the optional Voltage Sensing Module and the connection and technical data of the line reactor (commutating reactor), then check the power cables for short-circuit or ground fault.
- Infeed unit: replace the power unit.
- Motor Module: check the motor data and, if required, recalculate the controller parameters (p0340 = 3); alternatively run a motor data identification (p1910 = 1, p1960 = 1).
- Motor Module: check the motor circuit configuration (star-delta), the motor load, the power cable connections, the power cables for short-circuit or ground fault and the length of the power cables.
- Motor Module: replace the power unit.
- G120/G120XA: check the motor data, the motor circuit configuration (star-delta), the motor load, the power cable connections, the power cables for short-circuit or ground fault and the length of the power cables, then replace the power unit.
- HLA: check the 26.5 V supply voltage (X271).
Reading the message value
- The drive stores the fault cause in r0949; for the current-limit meaning it identifies the phase in which the hardware current limitation responded.
- S120/S150 and G130/G150 — interpret binary: Bit 3: phase U, Bit 4: phase V, Bit 5: phase W. Additional bits are only for internal Siemens troubleshooting. A fault value of 0 means that the phase with current limiting is not recognized (e.g. for blocksize device).
- G120 and G120XA — interpret binary: Bit 0: Phase U, Bit 1: Phase V, Bit 2: Phase W.
- HLA — interpret decimal: voltage value [0.1 V], i.e. the value of the 26.5 V supply voltage.
Parameters the manual names
- r0949 (fault value): read it as binary to find the phase whose current limit responded, or as decimal on the HLA to read the supply voltage in 0.1 V.
- p0340 (automatic parameter calculation): set to 2 to reset and identify the infeed controller, or to 3 to recalculate the controller parameters on a Motor Module after checking the motor data.
- p3410 (infeed identification method): set to 5 together with p0340 = 2 for the infeed controller identification.
- p1910 (valve offset calibration standstill activation): set to 1, together with p1960 = 1, to run the motor data identification offered instead of recalculating with p0340 = 3.
- p1960 (moving measurement selection): set to 1 together with p1910 = 1 for the motor data identification.
Acknowledging and restarting
The drive coasts down (OFF2) and must be acknowledged immediately before it will start again. Remove the cause first: the hardware current limitation has already responded repeatedly, so restarting into the same condition trips the fault again. On the HLA the monitoring only responds on a drive that has been enabled.
