F30008Power unit: Sign-of-life error cyclic data

What it means

F30008 is the power unit's sign-of-life fault for the cyclic data. It is raised when the Control Unit (CU) misses the punctual update of the cyclic setpoint telegram to the power unit and the number of consecutive tolerated sign-of-life errors exceeds the fault threshold (p7789) set in the power unit. The manuals classify it as an internal DRIVE-CLiQ communication error and describe it in the same way for the G130, G150, S120 and S150.

Why it appears

  • The Control Unit missed the punctual update of the cyclic setpoint telegram to the power unit.
  • More consecutive sign-of-life errors occurred than the power unit tolerates: the fault threshold stored there (p7789) was exceeded.

What to check

  1. For projects with the VECTOR drive object, check on the Control Unit whether p0117 = 6 is set.
  2. Increase the fault threshold p7789.
  3. Check the Motor Module and replace it if required.

Parameters the manual names

  • p7789 (PU SoL mon F_thr — power unit sign-of-life monitoring fault threshold): the threshold of consecutive tolerated sign-of-life errors in the power unit; increasing it is one of the remedy steps for this fault.
  • p0117 (I_ctrl t_dead mode — current controller computing dead time mode): for projects with the VECTOR drive object, verify on the Control Unit that p0117 = 6 is set.

Acknowledging and restarting

The fault must be acknowledged immediately. The default reaction is NONE — the drive does not execute an automatic OFF1, OFF2 or OFF3 when the fault is triggered, although one of these responses can be configured instead. Once the cause has been remedied, acknowledge the fault to clear it.

What differs between the drive families

Straight from the manuals' own fields — F30008 is not described identically everywhere.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS fault F30008 mean?

The power unit's sign-of-life monitoring for the cyclic data has tripped: the Control Unit did not update the cyclic setpoint telegram punctually, and the consecutive sign-of-life errors exceeded the fault threshold p7789 set in the power unit.

How do I fix fault F30008?

For projects with the VECTOR drive object, check that p0117 = 6 is set on the Control Unit, increase the fault threshold p7789, and check the Motor Module, replacing it if required. Then acknowledge the fault immediately.

Which parameter is the sign-of-life fault threshold for F30008?

p7789, the power unit sign-of-life monitoring fault threshold. The drive raises F30008 when more consecutive sign-of-life errors occur than this threshold tolerates.

Does F30008 switch off the drive?

By default the reaction is NONE, so the drive does not execute an automatic OFF1, OFF2 or OFF3; such a response can be configured instead. Acknowledge the fault immediately once it appears.
