F01030Sign-of-life failure for master control

What it means

F01030 — Sign-of-life failure for master control is raised while PC master control is active and the drive receives no sign-of-life from the PC within the configured monitoring time. The drive then hands master control back from the PC to the BICO interconnection that was active beforehand, and executes the reaction shown in the table for the affected drive object. The manuals describe this fault identically for all listed drive objects, so the same cause and remedy apply in every case.

Why it appears

  • While PC master control was active, the drive received no sign-of-life from the PC within the monitoring time that had been set.
  • As a consequence of the failed monitoring, the master control was returned to the active BICO interconnection.

What to check

  1. Set the monitoring time higher at the PC, or, if required, completely disable the monitoring function.
  2. In the commissioning tool, open <Drive> -> Commissioning -> Control panel and press the button "Fetch master control": a window is displayed in which the monitoring time is set in milliseconds.
  3. Afterwards keep the setting tight — The monitoring time should be set as short as possible. A long monitoring time means a late response when the communication fails!

Acknowledging and restarting

Acknowledge the fault immediately; only then can the drive be restarted. Because the drive returned master control to the active BICO interconnection when F01030 occurred, the PC must fetch master control again via the button "Fetch master control" in the commissioning tool's control panel — the same place where the monitoring time is set — if it is to control the drive once more.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F01030 on a SINAMICS drive mean?

It means that PC master control was active and the drive received no sign-of-life from the PC within the set monitoring time. The drive then returned master control to the active BICO interconnection.

How do I fix fault F01030?

Set the monitoring time higher at the PC, or completely disable the monitoring function if required, then acknowledge the fault immediately. The monitoring time is set in the commissioning tool under <Drive> -> Commissioning -> Control panel via the button "Fetch master control".

Where is the master-control monitoring time set?

In the commissioning tool: <Drive> -> Commissioning -> Control panel -> button "Fetch master control". A window opens in which the monitoring time is entered in milliseconds.

How long should the master-control monitoring time be?

As short as possible. A long monitoring time means a late response when the communication fails.
