What it means
A08565 is raised when a consistency error is detected while a configuration for the Ethernet interface is being activated. Which configuration this is depends on the converter: on the G120 and G120XA it is the configuration (p8925) of the PROFINET interface; on the G130, G150, S120 and S150 it is the configuration (p8945) of the Communication Board Ethernet 20/25/41 (CBE20/CBE25/CBE41), where the G130/G150 manual names only the CBE20. The alarm is therefore titled PNCOMM BOARD: Consistency error affecting adjustable parameters
where a Communication Board is involved, and PROFINET: Consistency error affecting adjustable parameters
for the PROFINET interface. Whatever the alarm value, the currently set configuration has not been activated; the value in r2124 says which part of the configuration is inconsistent.
Why it appears
- A consistency error was detected when activating the configuration (p8945) for the Communication Board Ethernet 20/25/41 (CBE20/CBE25/CBE41); for the G130 and G150 the manual names the Communication Board Ethernet 20 (CBE20).
- On the G120 and G120XA, a consistency error was detected when activating the configuration (p8925) for the PROFINET interface.
- The short troubleshooting tables of the G115D and G120C manuals name the concrete causes: the IP address, subnet mask or default gateway is not correct; the IP address or station name is used twice in the network; the station name contains invalid characters.
- Alarm values 3 and 4 additionally report a conflict between DHCP and a cyclic PROFINET connection (see the alarm value list below).
What to check
- Read the alarm value in r2124 (interpret decimal); it tells you which part of the interface configuration was rejected — the values are decoded in the alarm value list below.
- Check the required interface configuration: for the PROFINET interface p8920 (name of station), p8921 (IP address), p8922 (default gateway) and p8923 (subnet mask); for the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41 p8940 (name of station), p8941 (IP address), p8942 (default gateway), p8943 (subnet mask) and p8944 (DHCP mode). Correct the values if necessary.
- Activate the corrected configuration — p8925 for the PROFINET interface, p8945 for the Communication Board Ethernet.
- Alternatively, reconfigure the station via the
Edit Ethernet node
screen form, e.g. with the STARTER commissioning software.
Reading the message value
- The alarm value is stored in r2124 and must be interpreted decimal.
- 0: general consistency error.
- 1: error in the IP configuration (IP address, subnet mask or standard gateway).
- 2: Error in the station names.
- 3: DHCP was not able to be activated, as a cyclic PROFINET connection already exists.
- 4: a cyclic PROFINET connection is not possible as DHCP is activated.
- For all alarm values the following applies: the currently set configuration has not been activated. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
Parameters the manual names
- r2124 — alarm value; read it decimal to see which element of the interface configuration the drive rejected (values 0 to 4).
- p8920 (PN Name of Station) — check the station name of the PROFINET interface here.
- p8921 (PN IP address) — check the IP address of the PROFINET interface here.
- p8922 (PN Default Gateway) — check the default gateway of the PROFINET interface here.
- p8923 (PN Subnet Mask) — check the subnet mask of the PROFINET interface here.
- p8925 (Activate PN interface configuration) — use it to activate the corrected PROFINET settings.
- p8940 (CBExx name of station) — check the station name of the Communication Board Ethernet here.
- p8941 (CBExx IP address) — check the IP address of the Communication Board Ethernet here.
- p8942 (CBExx default gateway) — check the default gateway of the Communication Board Ethernet here.
- p8943 (CBExx subnet mask) — check the subnet mask of the Communication Board Ethernet here.
- p8944 (CBExx DHCP mode) — check the DHCP mode of the Communication Board Ethernet here; alarm values 3 and 4 concern DHCP.
- p8945 (CBExx activate configuration of interfaces) — use it to activate the corrected Communication Board configuration.
Acknowledging and restarting
No acknowledgement is required for this alarm. It only reports that the configuration that was just set has not been activated; correct the interface configuration as described above and activate it again with p8925 (PROFINET interface) or p8945 (Communication Board Ethernet), or reconfigure the station via the Edit Ethernet node
screen form.

Questions technicians ask
What does SINAMICS alarm A08565 mean?
A consistency error was detected when the configuration of the Ethernet interface was activated — p8925 for the PROFINET interface or p8945 for a Communication Board Ethernet CBE20/CBE25/CBE41. The configuration that was set has not been activated, and the value in r2124 (interpret decimal) shows which part is inconsistent.
How do I clear alarm A08565?
Check the interface configuration — p8920 and following for PROFINET, p8940 and following for the Communication Board — correct it if necessary and activate it with p8925 or p8945. Alternatively, reconfigure the station via the "Edit Ethernet node" screen form, e.g. with STARTER.
What do alarm values 3 and 4 of A08565 mean?
Value 3 means DHCP was not able to be activated because a cyclic PROFINET connection already exists. Value 4 means a cyclic PROFINET connection is not possible because DHCP is activated.
Does A08565 have to be acknowledged?
No acknowledgement is required. The alarm only reports that the new interface configuration was not activated; after the configuration has been corrected and activated again (p8925 or p8945), the reported condition is resolved.
