What it means
A08564 is raised when the drive detects a syntax error in the ASCII configuration file of its Ethernet communication board, so the saved configuration file has not been loaded. Which board is meant depends on the family: on the S120/S150 the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41, on the G130/G150 the CBE20, and on the G120/G120XA the Communication Board Ethernet, i.e. the PROFINET interface. The alarm therefore concerns the configuration data of this one board.
Why it appears
- A syntax error has been detected in the ASCII configuration file for the communication board — on the S120/S150 for the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41, on the G130/G150 for the CBE20.
- On the G120/G120XA the syntax error is in the ASCII configuration file for the Communication Board Ethernet, the PROFINET interface.
- In all cases the saved configuration file has not been loaded.
What to check
- Check the configuration parameters of the board and locate the syntax error: for the CBE20 (and the CBE25/CBE41 on the S120/S150) the configuration comprises the parameters from p8940 onward.
- On the G120/G120XA, correct the PROFINET interface configuration, which comprises the parameters from p8920 onward.
- Activate the corrected configuration: set p8945 = 2 for the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41, or p8925 = 2 for the PROFINET interface on the G120/G120XA.
- Reinitialize the board or the station — for example with the STARTER commissioning tool.
- Power the drive down and up again: the manual notes that the configuration is not applied until the next POWER ON.
Parameters the manual names
- p8940 (name of station) — first parameter of the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41 configuration; this is where the syntax error has to be corrected.
- p8945 (activate configuration of interfaces) — set to 2 to activate the corrected CBE20/CBE25/CBE41 configuration.
- p8920 (PN Name of Station) — first parameter of the PROFINET interface configuration on the G120/G120XA; correct the configuration here.
- p8925 (Activate PN interface configuration) — set to 2 to activate the corrected PROFINET interface configuration on the G120/G120XA.
Acknowledging and restarting
Correct the configuration file, activate it (p8945 = 2 for the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41, p8925 = 2 for the PROFINET interface on the G120/G120XA) and reinitialize the board or station, for example with STARTER. The configuration is not applied until the next POWER ON!
so the drive must be powered off and on again after activation. No further acknowledgement step is described for this alarm.

Questions technicians ask
What does alarm A08564 mean on a SINAMICS drive?
A syntax error has been detected in the ASCII configuration file of the Ethernet communication board — the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41 on the S120/S150, the CBE20 on the G130/G150, the PROFINET interface on the G120/G120XA — and the saved configuration file has not been loaded.
How do I fix alarm A08564?
Correct the configuration parameters (from p8940 onward for the CBE boards, from p8920 onward for the PROFINET interface on the G120/G120XA), activate the corrected configuration with p8945 = 2 or p8925 = 2, reinitialize the board or station — for example with STARTER — and then power the drive off and on.
Why is the corrected configuration still not active after A08564?
The manual notes that the configuration is not applied until the next POWER ON, so the corrected configuration only takes effect after the drive has been powered off and on again.
Which parameters belong to alarm A08564?
For the CBE20/CBE25/CBE41 the configuration parameters from p8940 onward with activation via p8945 = 2; for the PROFINET interface on the G120/G120XA the parameters from p8920 onward with activation via p8925 = 2.
