A35415TM: Temperature alarm threshold channel 9 exceeded

What it means

A35415 is issued when the temperature (r4105[9]) measured using the temperature sensing of the Terminal Module 150 (TM150) exceeds the threshold value p4102[18] that initiates this alarm; the monitored input is channel 9 of the Terminal Module. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or as a message without any reaction (N).

Why it appears

  • The temperature (r4105[9]) measured using the temperature sensing of the Terminal Module 150 (TM150) has exceeded the threshold value p4102[18] that initiates this alarm.
  • With sensor type "PTC thermistor" or "Bimetallic NC contact" (p4100[9] = 1, 4), the drive derives the temperature from the sensor resistance r4101[9]: above 1650 ohms it reports 250 °C, at 1650 ohms or below it reports -50 °C.

What to check

  1. Read the alarm value r2124 (interpret decimal) — it holds the temperature actual value at the time the alarm was initiated, in 0.1 °C.
  2. Compare the current temperature r4105[9] with the set threshold p4102[18] and check the sensor type in p4100[9]. With "PTC thermistor" or "Bimetallic NC contact" (p4100[9] = 1, 4), read the sensor resistance r4101[9]: a value above 1650 ohms yields 250 °C, a value of 1650 ohms or below yields -50 °C.
  3. Allow the temperature sensor to cool down until the measured temperature is below p4102[18] minus the hysteresis p4118[9]; the alarm then goes away by itself.

Reading the message value

  • Alarm value r2124, interpret decimal: temperature actual value at the time of initiation, in 0.1 °C.

Parameters the manual names

  • r4105[9] — CO: Spindle supplementary temperature actual value; the channel 9 temperature of the TM150 temperature sensing that this alarm monitors.
  • p4102[18] — Spindle supplementary temperature fault threshold/alarm threshold; A35415 is initiated when r4105[9] exceeds this value.
  • p4100[9] — Spindle supplementary temperature sensor type; 1 means PTC thermistor, 4 means Bimetallic NC contact.
  • r4101[9] — TM120 sensor resistance; with a PTC thermistor or Bimetallic NC contact it decides whether the drive reports 250 °C (above 1650 ohms) or -50 °C (1650 ohms or below).
  • p4118[9] — TM150 fault threshold/alarm threshold hysteresis; together with p4102[18] it defines the level below which the alarm clears.
  • r2124 — Alarm value; holds the temperature actual value at the time of initiation, interpret decimal in 0.1 °C.

Acknowledging and restarting

You do not need to acknowledge this alarm: it goes away once the temperature measured on channel 9 drops below p4102[18] - hysteresis (p4118[9]). Until then, allow the temperature sensor to cool down. If the drive is configured to issue this condition as a fault (F), the manual specifies acknowledgement "IMMEDIATELY (POWER ON)"; issued with no reaction (N), it requires no acknowledgement either.

Questions technicians ask

What does alarm A35415 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

The temperature (r4105[9]) measured using the temperature sensing of the Terminal Module 150 (TM150) has exceeded the alarm threshold p4102[18]. The message concerns channel 9 of the Terminal Module.

How do I clear alarm A35415?

No acknowledgement is needed: the alarm clears itself once the temperature falls below p4102[18] minus the hysteresis p4118[9]. Allow the temperature sensor to cool down until then.

Why does A35415 show a temperature of 250 °C?

With sensor type PTC thermistor or Bimetallic NC contact (p4100[9] = 1, 4), the drive reports 250 °C whenever the resistance r4101[9] is above 1650 ohms, and -50 °C at 1650 ohms or below.

Where can I see the temperature that triggered A35415?

In the alarm value r2124. Interpret it as a decimal number in 0.1 °C — it holds the temperature actual value at the time the alarm was initiated.
