What it means
A07598 — Encoder 3: Reference function interrupted — is raised when a reference function that was activated for Encoder 3, i.e. a reference mark search or a measuring probe evaluation, was interrupted. Depending on the drive's configuration, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or with no reaction (N); this page describes the alarm.
Why it appears
- An activated reference function for Encoder 3 — the reference mark search or the measuring probe evaluation — was interrupted. The manual names these triggers:
- An encoder fault has occurred.
- The position actual value was set while a reference function was still active.
- Reference mark search and measuring probe evaluation were activated simultaneously (BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 = 1 signal).
- The activated reference function (reference mark search or measuring probe evaluation) was deactivated (BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 = 0 signal).
What to check
- Check the causes listed above and resolve the one that applies: an encoder fault, a position actual value set during an active reference function, both commands active at the same time, or the function being switched off.
- Reset the control by setting BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 to 0 signal.
- Activate the requested function again — the reference mark search via p2508 or the measuring probe evaluation via p2509, but only one of the two.
Parameters the manual names
- p2508 — BI: LR activate reference mark search. This is the command that starts the reference mark search on Encoder 3; together with p2509 it must be at 0 signal to reset the control, and it must never be at 1 signal at the same time as p2509.
- p2509 — BI: LR activate measuring probe evaluation. This is the command that starts the measuring probe evaluation on Encoder 3; activating it together with p2508 interrupts the reference function and raises this code.
Acknowledging and restarting
As an alarm, A07598 does not trip the drive and needs no acknowledgment; it clears once the interrupting condition is removed. Resolve the cause, set BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 to 0 signal to reset the control, then activate the requested function again. If the drive's configuration raises the same condition as a fault, the drive is tripped with OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and the message must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY.
The same on every family
Every manual that describes A07598 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.
| Drive family | Reaction | Acknowledge | Message class | Component | Manual |

| S120, S150 | NONE | NONE | Application/technological function faulted (17) | None | SINAMICS S120, S150 List Manual · p. 2857 |

Questions technicians ask
What does alarm A07598 mean on a SINAMICS drive?
It reports that the reference function activated for Encoder 3 — a reference mark search or the measuring probe evaluation — was interrupted. The manual names an encoder fault, a position actual value set during the function, both commands active at once, and deactivation of the function as triggers.
How do I reset A07598?
Resolve the cause, then set BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 to 0 signal to reset the control and activate the requested function again. As an alarm the code needs no acknowledgment; if it is configured as a fault, acknowledge it IMMEDIATELY after the OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) reaction.
Why does A07598 come up during the reference mark search?
The function was interrupted, for example because the position actual value was set while it was running, because an encoder fault occurred, or because the command was withdrawn (BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 = 0 signal). Activate only the reference mark search or only the measuring probe evaluation — never both at once.
Does A07598 stop the drive?
No — as an alarm it does not trip the drive and requires no acknowledgment. Only when the drive's configuration issues the same condition as a fault does the drive trip with OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and the message must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY.
