A07595Encoder 3: Value range for position actual value exceeded

What it means

Alarm A07595 reports that the value range (-2147483648 ... 2147483647) available for representing the position actual value of Encoder 3 has been exceeded. When the overflow occurs, the drive resets the 'referenced' or 'absolute encoder adjusted' status. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or as a message without reaction (N) instead of an alarm.

Why it appears

  • The value range (-2147483648 ... 2147483647) for the position actual value representation was exceeded.
  • When the overflow occurs, the 'referenced' or 'absolute encoder adjusted' status is reset.

What to check

  1. Read the alarm value in r2124 — interpret it as a decimal number — to identify which quantity has overflowed.
  2. Alarm value 1: check whether the position actual value (r2521) has exceeded the value range.
  3. Alarm value 2: check whether the encoder position actual value Gn_XIST2 (r0483) or the absolute value after the load gear (r2723) has exceeded the value range.
  4. If required, reduce the traversing range or the position resolution.
  5. Alarm value 3: the maximum encoder value times the conversion factor to length units (LU) is too large — reduce the position resolution and conversion factor by reducing the length unit (LU) per load revolution for rotary encoders (p2506) and increasing the fine resolution of absolute position actual values (p0419).

Reading the message value

  • The drive stores the alarm value in r2124; interpret it as a decimal number.
  • 1: The position actual value (r2521) has exceeded the value range.
  • 2: The encoder position actual value Gn_XIST2 (r0483) or the absolute value after the load gear (r2723) has exceeded the value range.
  • 3: The maximum encoder value times the factor to convert the absolute position (r0483 and/or r2723) from increments to length units (LU) has exceeded the value range for displaying the position actual value.

Parameters the manual names

  • r2124 — read the alarm value here (as a decimal number) to see which of the three overflow cases applies.
  • r2521 — LR position actual value; this is the value checked for exceedance when the alarm value is 1.
  • r0483 — encoder actual position value Gn_XIST2; monitored for exceedance at alarm value 2 and part of the LU conversion at alarm value 3.
  • r2723 — load gear absolute value; monitored for exceedance at alarm value 2 and part of the LU conversion at alarm value 3.
  • p2506 — length unit (LU) per load revolution for rotary encoders; reduce it to reduce the position resolution and conversion factor at alarm value 3.
  • p0419 — fine resolution absolute value Gx_XIST2 (in bits); increase it when reducing the position resolution at alarm value 3.

Acknowledging and restarting

Raised as an alarm, the message does not require an acknowledgement. If the drive issues the same condition as a fault (F), it executes OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and the fault must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY; as a no-reaction message (N) neither a reaction nor an acknowledgement occurs.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes A07595 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS alarm A07595 mean?

The position actual value of Encoder 3 has exceeded the value range -2147483648 ... 2147483647. On the overflow the drive resets the 'referenced' or 'absolute encoder adjusted' status.

How do I fix A07595?

Read the alarm value in r2124 and, if required, reduce the traversing range or the position resolution. For alarm value 3, reduce p2506 (LU per load revolution for rotary encoders) and increase p0419 (fine resolution of the absolute position actual values).

Does A07595 stop the drive?

As an alarm it triggers no reaction and needs no acknowledgement. If the drive raises it as a fault instead, it executes OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and the fault must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY.

Which encoder does A07595 refer to?

Encoder 3. The manuals describe the same value-range overflow for Encoder 1 under A07593 and for Encoder 2 under A07594.
