A07596Encoder 1: Reference function interrupted

What it means

A07596 appears as Encoder 1: Reference function interrupted. The drive raises it when an activated reference function on encoder 1 — either a reference mark search or a measuring probe evaluation — is interrupted while it is running. The manuals that describe this code print identical behaviour for every drive object, so the causes and the remedy below apply unchanged. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or as a message with no reaction (N).

Why it appears

An activated reference function (reference mark search or measuring probe evaluation) was interrupted. The manuals give these underlying reasons:

  • An encoder fault has occurred (Gn_ZSW.15 = 1).
  • The position actual value was set while a reference function was active.
  • Reference mark search and measuring probe evaluation were activated simultaneously (BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 = 1 signal).
  • The activated reference function (reference mark search or measuring probe evaluation) was deactivated (BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 = 0 signal).

What to check

  1. Check the causes listed above and resolve them.
  2. Reset the control with BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 at the 0 signal, then activate the requested function again.

Parameters the manual names

  • p2508 — BI: LR activate reference mark search / Ref_mark act. This binary input starts the reference mark search; for this code it must not carry the 1 signal at the same time as p2509, and it is driven to the 0 signal together with p2509 to reset the control.
  • p2509 — BI: LR activate measuring probe evaluation / MT_eval act. This binary input starts the measuring probe evaluation; like p2508 it must not be 1 simultaneously with the other input, and it goes to 0 together with p2508 for the reset before the requested function is activated again.

Acknowledging and restarting

As an alarm the message requires no acknowledgement. If the drive is configured to output the condition as a fault instead, it executes OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and the fault must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY before the drive can be restarted. In either case: resolve the cause, set BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 to the 0 signal to reset the control, and then activate the requested function again.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes A07596 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does alarm A07596 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It is the message “Encoder 1: Reference function interrupted”: a reference mark search or a measuring probe evaluation that had been activated on encoder 1 was interrupted while it was running.

How do I clear A07596?

Resolve the underlying cause, then set BI: p2508 and BI: p2509 to the 0 signal to reset the control and activate the requested function again. If the condition appears as a fault, acknowledge it IMMEDIATELY after the OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) stop.

Why does A07596 appear although nobody requested a reference function?

The manual lists causes that need no operator request: an encoder fault (Gn_ZSW.15 = 1), the position actual value being set during an activated reference function, or both p2508 and p2509 receiving the 1 signal at the same time.

Can A07596 also appear as a fault?

Yes. Depending on the drive's configuration the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or with no reaction (N); as a fault it stops the drive with OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) and must be acknowledged IMMEDIATELY.
