A07589 — Encoder 3: Position actual value preprocessing does not have a valid encoder

A07589 is raised by the position actual value preprocessing of Encoder 3 when there is no valid encoder behind it. The manual titles the message Encoder 3: Position actual value preprocessing does not have a valid encoder: an encoder data set has been assigned for the position actual value preprocessing, but the data set it points to contains no usable encoder data. The S120/S150 and the G130/G150 manuals describe this alarm identically, except that the S120/S150 remedy adds one further parameter reference (p2502). The alarm signals a parameterization or commissioning problem, not a hardware event detected during operation.

• An encoder data set has been assigned for Encoder 3, but that data set contains no encoder data at all — no encoder type is selected (p0400 = 0).
• The assigned encoder data set contains invalid encoder data, for example a rotary encoder pulse number of 0 (p0408 = 0).

1. Check the drive data sets and encoder data sets: the encoder data set number for Encoder 3 is set in p0189, while p0187 and p0188 hold the corresponding numbers for Encoder 1 and Encoder 2.
2. In the assigned encoder data set, verify that an encoder type is selected — p0400 may not be 0.
3. Verify that the encoder data in the data set is complete and valid; the manual cites p0408, the rotary encoder pulse number, as an example of data that may not be 0.
4. On S120 and S150, also check the encoder assignment via p2502 (LR encoder assignment), which the manual names as an additional reference for this alarm.

• p0189 (Encoder 3 encoder data set number) — shows which encoder data set Encoder 3 takes its data from; check it first when the alarm appears.
• p0188 (Encoder 2 encoder data set number) and p0187 (Encoder 1 encoder data set number) — the corresponding encoder data set numbers of the other encoders, checked together with the drive data sets.
• p0400 (encoder type selection) — must contain a valid encoder type in the assigned data set; a value of 0 means the data set holds no encoder data.
• p0408 (rotary encoder pulse number) — the manual's example of invalid encoder data: a pulse number of 0 makes the assigned data set unusable.
• p2502 (LR encoder assignment) — named in the S120/S150 remedy as an additional reference when checking the encoder assignment.

This alarm requires no acknowledgment. It only reports the state of the encoder parameterization: once the encoder data set assigned to Encoder 3 contains a valid encoder — an encoder type selected in p0400 and valid data such as the rotary encoder pulse number in p0408 — the condition for the alarm is removed.
