A07012Drive: Motor temperature model 1/3 overtemperature

What it means

A07012 is raised by the software motor temperature model of the drive: either model 1, the I2t model, or model 3. The model monitors the motor's thermal condition and signals the alarm as soon as it identifies that its alarm threshold has been exceeded; a hysteresis of 2 K applies at the threshold. The alarm value stored in r2124 tells you which of the two models tripped. The drive keeps running — nothing is switched off and no acknowledgment is needed. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be signalled without a reaction.

Why it appears

  • Motor temperature model 1 (I2t) identified that its alarm threshold (p0605) was exceeded.
  • Motor temperature model 3 identified that its alarm threshold (p5398) was exceeded.
  • In both cases the drive applies a hysteresis of 2 K at the threshold.

What to check

  1. Check the motor load and, if required, reduce it.
  2. Check the motor's ambient temperature.
  3. Check the activation of the motor temperature model (p0612).
  4. For motor temperature model 1 (I2t): check the thermal time constant (p0611) and the alarm threshold (p0605).
  5. For motor temperature model 3: check the motor type, check the alarm threshold (p5398) and check the model parameters.

Reading the message value

  • The drive stores the alarm value in r2124; the message value %1 carries this value and is to be interpreted as a decimal number.
  • 200: Motor temperature model 1 (I2t): Temperature too high (p0605).
  • 300: Motor temperature model 3: Temperature too high (p5398).

Acknowledging and restarting

A07012 requires no acknowledgment: the drive removes the alarm by itself. Once the calculated motor temperature of the affected model has fallen back below the threshold by the 2 K hysteresis, the alarm goes away on its own. The drive keeps running the whole time, so nothing has to be restarted at the operator panel or in the commissioning tool.
