What it means
A05001 tells you that the alarm threshold for overtemperature of the power semiconductor in the AC converter has been reached — the depletion layer of the chip, called the barrier layer in some of the entries, has become too warm. The operator panel and the commissioning tool show the condition as Power unit: Overtemperature depletion layer chip
. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output with no reaction (N).
The alarm is the warning stage ahead of the fault: the response the drive performs in this state is the one set in p0290, and fault F30025 is initiated if the depletion layer temperature increases further. The entries for the S120/S150, G120 and G120XA name the margin as the value set in p0292[1]; the G130/G150 entries state it as an additional 15 K.

What to check
- Check whether the ambient temperature is within the defined limit values.
- Check whether the load conditions and the load duty cycle have been appropriately dimensioned.
- Check whether the cooling has failed.

Acknowledging and restarting
This alarm needs no acknowledgement: nothing has to be reset at the operator panel. What the drive does while the condition is present is defined by p0290, and fault F30025 only follows if the temperature climbs beyond the margin described above. Work through the checks above to remove the cause of the high chip temperature.
