A05053Parallel circuit: Inadmissible DC link voltage asymmetry

What it means

A05053 reports an inadmissible asymmetry of the DC link voltage in a parallel circuit: the deviation between the DC link voltage measured values of the power units connected in parallel exceeds the alarm threshold stored in p7011. While it is present as an alarm, it triggers no automatic shutdown of the drive. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be reported as a fault (F05053).

Why it appears

  • The deviation between the measured DC link voltage values of the paralleled power units exceeds the alarm threshold set in p7011.

What to check

  1. Inhibit the pulses of the power unit that reported the asymmetry, using the power units enable parameter p7001.
  2. Check the DC link connecting cables between the paralleled power units.
  3. If the deviation persists, the DC link voltage measurement is returning incorrect values and must be calibrated or renewed.

Parameters the manual names

  • p7011 — alarm threshold for the DC link voltage asymmetry in the parallel circuit; the deviation of the measured values is compared against this value, and the message follows as soon as it is exceeded.
  • p7001 — power units enable parameter; use it to inhibit the pulses of the faulted power unit as the first step of the remedy.

Acknowledging and restarting

The alarm requires no acknowledgement; it clears once the deviation of the DC link voltage measured values no longer exceeds the threshold set in p7011. If the drive configuration reports the same condition as a fault instead, that fault must be acknowledged immediately before the drive can be restarted.

Questions technicians ask

What does A05053 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It signals an inadmissible DC link voltage asymmetry in a parallel circuit: the deviation of the DC link voltage measured values exceeds the alarm threshold set in p7011.

How do I clear A05053?

Inhibit the pulses of the faulted power unit via p7001, check the DC link connecting cables, and have the DC link voltage measurement calibrated or renewed if it is incorrect. The alarm itself needs no acknowledgement.

Which parameter sets the A05053 alarm threshold?

p7011, the alarm threshold for the DC link voltage asymmetry in the parallel circuit. The message appears as soon as the deviation of the measured values exceeds it.

Can A05053 also appear as a fault?

Yes. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can be reported as a fault (F05053), which must be acknowledged immediately before the drive restarts.
