What it means

A05006 is the alarm Power unit: Overtemperature thermal model. It reports that the temperature difference between the chip and the heat sink of the power unit has exceeded the permissible limit value — a monitoring that, as the manuals state, exists on blocksize power units only. Which overload response the drive then initiates depends on p0290 (Power unit overload response). Why it appears

  • The temperature difference between the chip and the heat sink has exceeded the permissible limit value; the manuals limit this monitoring to blocksize power units.
  • On the G120XA the manual additionally names a second trigger for this alarm: the voltage measurement does not supply any plausible values and is not used. For this it cross-refers to A05065 (Voltage measured values not plausible).

What to check

  1. No remedy is necessary: the manuals state that the alarm disappears automatically once the limit value is undershot.
  2. Bear in mind the manuals' note: if the alarm does not disappear automatically and the temperature continues to rise, this can result in fault F30024.
  3. G120XA only — the manual specifies that the following parameterization must be made in order to deactivate the alarm: deactivate voltage measurement (p0247.0 = 0), deactivate flying restart with voltage measurement (p0247.5 = 0) and deactivate fast flying restart (p1780.11 = 0).

Reading the message value

  • The S120/S150 and G130/G150 manuals print no message value for this alarm.
  • The G120XA manual outputs an alarm value in r2124 and decodes it bitwise binary: Bit 1: Phase U, Bit 2: Phase V, Bit 3: Phase W.

According to the manuals, no measures and no acknowledgement are necessary: the alarm is withdrawn automatically once the limit value has been fallen below. Only if the temperature continues to rise does the condition escalate to fault F30024.
