A01654SI P1 (CU): Deviating PROFIsafe configuration

What it means

A01654 is the alarm the drive issues under the printed title “SI P1 (CU): Deviating PROFIsafe configuration”. It comes from the Safety Integrated function of the Control Unit and reports that the configuration of a PROFIsafe telegram in the higher-level control (F-PLC) does not match the PROFIsafe parameterization in the drive. This message does not result in a safety stop response. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or without a reaction (N).

Why it appears

  • The PROFIsafe telegram configured in the higher-level control (F-PLC) and the PROFIsafe parameterization in the drive do not match. The drive distinguishes two directions of this mismatch via the alarm value:
  • Alarm value 1: a PROFIsafe telegram is configured in the higher-level control, however PROFIsafe is not enabled in the drive (p9601.3).
  • Alarm value 2: PROFIsafe is parameterized in the drive, however a PROFIsafe telegram has not been configured in the higher-level control.

What to check

  1. Read the alarm value in r2124 and interpret it as a decimal number to see which of the two mismatches the drive has detected.
  2. Check the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level control and, if necessary, correct it — the manual gives this as the general remedy for both alarm values.
  3. For alarm value 1: either remove the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level F control, or enable PROFIsafe in the drive (p9601.3).
  4. For alarm value 2: configure the PROFIsafe telegram to match the parameterization in the higher-level F-control.

Reading the message value

  • The drive writes the alarm value into r2124; interpret the value as a decimal number.
  • 1 — a PROFIsafe telegram is configured in the higher-level control, however PROFIsafe is not enabled in the drive (p9601.3).
  • 2 — PROFIsafe is parameterized in the drive, however a PROFIsafe telegram has not been configured in the higher-level control.

Parameters the manual names

  • r2124 (alarm value): read here, interpreted as a decimal number, to determine whether the drive lacks the PROFIsafe enable although the F-PLC has a telegram (1), or the drive is parameterized for PROFIsafe while the F-PLC has no telegram (2).
  • p9601 (SI enable functions integrated in the drive (Control Unit) / SI enable fct CU): PROFIsafe is enabled in the drive via p9601.3 — the switch to set when the higher-level control has a PROFIsafe telegram but the drive does not (alarm value 1).

Acknowledging and restarting

As an alarm, A01654 requires no acknowledgment in the drive — it disappears once the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level control (F-PLC) matches the parameterization in the drive. No safety stop response is involved, so no safety-related reintegration is needed either. If the drive configuration raises the same condition as a fault instead, it must be acknowledged immediately by switching POWER ON after the mismatch has been corrected.

Questions technicians ask

What does A01654 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It is the alarm “SI P1 (CU): Deviating PROFIsafe configuration”: the PROFIsafe telegram configured in the higher-level control (F-PLC) does not match the PROFIsafe parameterization in the drive.

Does A01654 trigger a safety stop?

No. The message does not result in a safety stop response — it is a configuration mismatch between F-PLC and drive that must be corrected on one of the two sides.

How do I clear alarm A01654?

Read the alarm value in r2124: if it is 1, remove the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level F control or enable PROFIsafe in the drive (p9601.3); if it is 2, configure the PROFIsafe telegram to match the parameterization in the higher-level F-control.

Why does A01654 appear although the drive keeps running?

The condition is signalled as an alarm — it can also be issued as a fault (F) or without a reaction (N) — and causes no stop response; it warns that F-PLC and drive disagree about the PROFIsafe telegram until the configuration is aligned.
