A01358Topology: Line termination not available

What it means

A01358 is a topology alarm: the drive has detected that at least one line with distributed drives is not terminated. The last participant on such a line must be fitted with a line termination connector, and this connector is what ensures the degree of protection of the distributed drives. Because the alarm value in r2124 identifies the exact connection, you can go straight to the unterminated line instead of inspecting the whole topology.

Why it appears

  • At least one line with distributed drives is not terminated.
  • The last participant on the line must be terminated with a line termination connector; without it, the degree of protection of the distributed drives is not ensured.

What to check

  1. Read the alarm value in r2124 and interpret it hexadecimal as zzyyxx: zz is the connection number of the distributed drive where there is no terminating connector, yy the component number and xx the CU connection number.
  2. Go to the last participant on that line of distributed drives.
  3. Install the line terminating connector for the last distributed drive.

Reading the message value

  • The drive stores the alarm value in r2124; interpret it hexadecimal as zzyyxx.
  • zz = connection number of the distributed drive where there is no terminating connector.
  • yy = component number.
  • xx = CU connection number.
  • The message value reports the same three items as placeholders: %1 = CU connection number, %2 = component number, %3 = connection number.

Parameters the manual names

  • r2124 — alarm value: read it here (hexadecimal, zzyyxx) to identify the distributed drive connection on which the terminating connector is missing.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive takes no protective action for this alarm and no acknowledgement is required. Once the line terminating connector has been installed on the last distributed drive, the alarm clears by itself.

Questions technicians ask

What does A01358 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It is a topology alarm telling you that at least one line with distributed drives is not terminated: the last participant on the line has no line termination connector, which must be fitted to ensure the degree of protection of the distributed drives.

How do I find which drive is missing the line termination?

Read the alarm value in r2124 and interpret it hexadecimal as zzyyxx: zz is the connection number of the distributed drive without the terminating connector, yy the component number and xx the CU connection number.

Does A01358 trip the drive or need an acknowledgement?

No. The drive takes no protective action and no acknowledgement is required; the alarm clears once the line terminating connector is installed.

How do I clear A01358?

Install the line terminating connector for the last distributed drive on the affected line; the alarm then clears by itself.
