F35406TM: Temperature fault/alarm threshold channel 10 exceeded

What it means

F35406 reports that the temperature evaluation on the Terminal Module 150 (TM150), channel 10, has exceeded one of its temperature thresholds. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output as an alarm or with no drive reaction at all. Note that this fault only causes the drive to shut down if there is at least one BICO interconnection between the drive and the Terminal Module.

For the sensor types "PTC thermistor" and "Bimetallic NC contact" (p4100[10] = 1, 4), the drive derives the channel temperature from the measured resistance r4101[10]: if r4101[10] is greater than 1650 ohms it reports 250 °C, and at 1650 ohms or below it reports -50 °C. The temperature actual value is available at connector output r4105[10] and can be interconnected.

Why it appears

  • The alarm threshold of channel 10 has been exceeded for longer than the time set in the timer (p4102[20], p4103[10]).
  • The fault threshold of channel 10 has been exceeded (p4102[21]).

What to check

  1. Allow the temperature sensor to cool down until it falls below the fault threshold minus hysteresis (p4102[21] - p4118[10]).
  2. If required, set the fault response to NONE for this fault number using p2100 and p2101.

Reading the message value

  • The fault value in r0949, interpreted as a decimal number, holds the temperature actual value at the time the fault was initiated, in 0.1 °C.

Parameters the manual names

  • p4102 — holds the thresholds of this channel: index [20] the alarm threshold, index [21] the fault threshold the sensor must fall below again.
  • p4103 — the delay time (index [10]) for how long the alarm threshold may be exceeded before the fault initiates.
  • p4100 — the sensor type of channel 10; value 1 means PTC thermistor, value 4 means Bimetallic NC contact.
  • r4101 — shows the resistance currently measured at the channel sensor (index [10]).
  • r4105 — connector output (CO) with the temperature actual value of channel 10; it can be interconnected.
  • r0949 — the fault value of the active fault; for F35406 it contains the temperature at fault initiation in 0.1 °C.
  • p4118 — the hysteresis (index [10]) that is subtracted from the fault threshold to define the temperature the sensor must cool down to.
  • p2100 / p2101 — select this fault number and set the response to NONE if the drive shutdown is not wanted for this condition.

Acknowledging and restarting

Before the drive can be restarted, the sensor must have cooled down below the fault threshold p4102[21] minus the hysteresis p4118[10]. The fault is then acknowledged immediately; a POWER ON also removes it. When the condition is output as an alarm or with no reaction, no acknowledgement is required.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS fault F35406 mean?

The temperature evaluation of channel 10 on the Terminal Module 150 (TM150) has either exceeded its alarm threshold longer than the timer p4103[10] allows or risen above the fault threshold p4102[21]. The drive only trips if at least one BICO interconnection exists between the drive and the Terminal Module.

How do I clear fault F35406?

Let the sensor cool down below the fault threshold minus hysteresis (p4102[21] - p4118[10]), then acknowledge the fault immediately — a POWER ON also clears it. The fault value in r0949 shows the temperature at the moment of initiation in 0.1 °C.

Which parameters belong to F35406?

The thresholds are in p4102 (alarm in index [20], fault in index [21]) together with the timer p4103[10] and the hysteresis p4118[10]; p4100[10] sets the sensor type. The measured resistance appears in r4101[10] and the resulting temperature in r4105[10].

Why is F35406 shown but the drive keeps running?

The same condition can also be issued as an alarm or with no reaction, and it only shuts the drive down when there is at least one BICO interconnection between the drive and the Terminal Module. If the shutdown is not wanted, the fault response can be changed to NONE via p2100 and p2101.
