What it means

F35404 reports that the temperature evaluation on a Terminal Module 150 (TM150) has detected on channel 8 that at least one of two conditions is met: the alarm threshold has been exceeded for longer than the time set in the timer (p4102[16], p4103[8]), or the fault threshold (p4102[17]) has been exceeded. Note that this fault only causes the drive to shut down if there is at least one BICO interconnection between the drive and the Terminal Module. The same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A) or with no reaction (N); the drive's configuration decides.

Why it appears

  • The alarm threshold (p4102[16]) on channel 8 of the TM150 has been exceeded longer than the time set in the timer (p4103[8]).
  • The fault threshold (p4102[17]) on channel 8 has been exceeded.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 as a decimal number — it holds the temperature actual value at the time the fault was initiated, in 0.1 °C.
  2. Call up the current temperature of channel 8 via connector output r4105[8] and the measured sensor resistance via r4101[8].
  3. For sensor type "PTC thermistor" or "Bimetallic NC contact" (p4100[8] = 1, 4), read the value accordingly: if r4101[8] > 1650 ohms, the drive shows r4105[8] = 250 °C; if r4101[8] <= 1650 ohms, it shows r4105[8] = -50 °C.
  4. Check the channel 8 settings: the alarm threshold in p4102[16] together with the delay time in p4103[8], and the fault threshold in p4102[17].
  5. Allow the temperature sensor to cool down to below p4102[17] minus the hysteresis (p4118[8]); only then does the condition clear.
  6. If the shutdown on this fault is not wanted, set the fault response to NONE via p2100 (fault number) and p2101 (response).

Reading the message value

  • The message value is the fault value in r0949, which the manual says to interpret as a decimal number.
  • r0949 then contains the temperature actual value at the time of initiation, scaled in 0.1 °C.

Parameters the manual names

  • p4102 — the threshold parameters of the channel 8 temperature evaluation: index [16] holds the alarm threshold, index [17] the fault threshold that triggers F35404 and below which the sensor must cool.
  • p4103 — the delay time of the timer (index [8]): how long the alarm threshold may be exceeded before the fault is initiated.
  • p4100 — the sensor type of channel 8 (index [8]); value 1 selects the "PTC thermistor", value 4 the "Bimetallic NC contact".

Acknowledging and restarting

The prerequisite for clearing the fault is that the temperature sensor has cooled down to below the fault threshold p4102[17] minus the hysteresis p4118[8]; while the temperature is still above this level the condition persists. Once it has cooled, the fault is acknowledged immediately (POWER ON). If the shutdown on this condition is not wanted, the remedy is to set the fault response to NONE with p2100 and p2101.
