What it means

F31160 means that the input voltage of the analog sensor connected as Encoder 1 is outside the permissible limits on channel A. The actual position or speed value derived from this encoder is therefore incorrect or no longer available, and the encoder signal is taken out of closed-loop control. Which of the limits was actually violated is stored as a numeric fault value in r0949 and must be read as a decimal number. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be signalled as an alarm or as a message without any reaction instead of as a fault.

Why it appears

  • The input voltage of the analog sensor is outside the permissible limits on channel A of Encoder 1.
  • Depending on which limit is violated, the fault value in r0949 is 1 (voltage outside the detectable measuring range), 2 (voltage outside the measuring range set in p4673) or 3 (absolute value of the voltage above the range limit in p4676).

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 as a decimal number to see which limit the drive tripped on: 1, 2 or 3.
  2. For fault value 1, check the output voltage of the analog sensor.
  3. For fault value 2, check the voltage setting for each encoder period in p4673.
  4. For fault value 3, check the range limit setting in p4676 and increase it if necessary.
  5. Once the cause has been removed, acknowledge the fault and restart the drive.
