What it means

F31152 means that the encoder evaluation of Encoder 1 has received a signal frequency on tracks A/B above its maximum input frequency. The evaluation sits on the Sensor Module Encoder 1, which is where the code is raised. The fault value stored with the code is the actual signal frequency in Hz, so the page value tells you directly how high the encoder frequency was. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be signalled as an alarm (A) or as a message without any reaction (N) instead of a tripping fault.

Why it appears

  • The maximum signal frequency of the encoder evaluation has been exceeded — the encoder connected as Encoder 1 feeds a higher input frequency to the evaluation than the evaluation can process.

What to check

  1. Reduce the speed: the signal frequency on the encoder tracks falls with the speed, and the code is only raised once that frequency passes the maximum input frequency of the evaluation.
  2. If the speed required by the application cannot be reduced far enough, use an encoder with a lower pulse number and set the new pulse number in p0408.
