F07561Drive encoder: Number of multiturn pulses is not to the power of two

What it means

F07561 is raised when the multiturn resolution of an absolute encoder, stored in p0421, is not a power of two. The drive only accepts multiturn resolutions that are a power of two and rejects any other setting in p0421 for the affected encoder. The fault value in r0949, read as a decimal number, identifies the encoder data set in which the incorrect resolution is set.

Why it appears

  • The multiturn resolution set in p0421 is not a power of two, although the drive only accepts multiturn resolutions to the power of two.

What to check

  1. Check the parameterization of the encoder data set named in the fault value: the multiturn resolution in p0421, together with p0404.1 and r0458.5.
  2. If necessary, upgrade the Sensor Module firmware.

Reading the message value

  • The drive enters the number of the affected encoder data set into the fault value; read r0949 and interpret it as a decimal number.
  • The message value shows this as "Encoder data set: %1", where %1 is replaced by the encoder data set number.

Parameters the manual names

  • p0421 — absolute encoder rotary multiturn resolution (Enc abs multiturn): set the multiturn resolution here to a power of two.
  • p0404 — encoder configuration effective (Enc_config eff): the remedy names p0404.1 as part of the parameterization to check.
  • r0458 — Sensor Module properties (SM properties): the remedy names r0458.5 as part of the parameterization to check.
  • r0949 — fault value: read it as a decimal number to identify the encoder data set involved.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive coasts down (OFF2) and must be acknowledged before it will start again. Acknowledge the fault immediately — a POWER ON also clears it.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07561 mean in SINAMICS?

The multiturn resolution of an absolute encoder set in p0421 is not a power of two. The drive only accepts multiturn resolutions to the power of two.

How do I fix F07561?

Check the parameterization of p0421, p0404.1 and r0458.5 for the encoder data set named in the fault value, and set the multiturn resolution in p0421 to a power of two. If necessary, upgrade the Sensor Module firmware.

How is F07561 acknowledged?

Immediately — a POWER ON also clears the fault. The drive coasts down (OFF2) and will not start again until it has been acknowledged.

Which encoder data set is affected by F07561?

Read the fault value in r0949 and interpret it as a decimal number: it contains the number of the encoder data set involved. The message value shows the same as "Encoder data set: %1".
