F01018Booting has been interrupted several times

What it means

F01018 indicates that booting of the module was interrupted several times. As a consequence, the module boots with the factory setting instead of the parameterization that was valid before. On the G120 and G120XA the fault is titled Booting has been interrupted several times; in the overview tables of the G115D and G120C manuals the same condition appears as Power-up aborted more than once.

Why it appears

  • The power supply was interrupted during booting.
  • The CPU crashed.
  • The parameterization is invalid.

What to check

  1. Carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on). After switching on, the module reboots from the valid parameterization, if one is available.
  2. Restore the valid parameterization. The manuals give two examples: carry out a first commissioning, save, and then carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on); or load another valid parameter backup — for example from the memory card — save, and again carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on).
  3. In the shortened overview tables of the G115D and G120C manuals the same procedure is condensed to a single instruction: recommission the converter.

Acknowledging and restarting

The fault is acknowledged by a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on). After switching on, the module reboots from the valid parameterization if one is available; if not, restore and save a valid parameterization first and then switch the module off and on again. The manuals also note that if the fault situation is repeated, this fault is output again after several interrupted boots.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F01018 mean on a SINAMICS converter?

It means that booting of the module was interrupted several times. As a consequence, the module boots with the factory setting instead of the previously valid parameterization.

How do I clear fault F01018?

Carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on); this is also how the fault is acknowledged. After switching on, the module reboots from the valid parameterization if one is available.

Why does the drive start with factory settings after F01018?

Because booting was interrupted several times. The manuals name three possible reasons: the power supply was interrupted, the CPU crashed, or the parameterization is invalid.

What if F01018 comes back after every power-up?

The manuals note that if the fault situation is repeated, the fault is output again after several interrupted boots. Restore and save a valid parameterization — for example from the memory card — and carry out a POWER ON again; the overview tables for the G115D and G120C put it briefly as: recommission the converter.
