What it means
When the drive reports Drive: Command Data Set CDS not present
, the command data set (CDS) that is currently selected is not available: the number of the selected command data set lies above the configured number of command data sets (p0836 > p0170). The alarm also appears when a changeover of the command data set was commanded but the command data set was not changed over. r0836 shows which command data set is selected at any given time. Because the message requires no acknowledgment, the task is not to reset the drive but to correct the selection or the number of configured data sets.
Why it appears
- The selected command data set is not available: the selected number is greater than the configured number of command data sets (p0836 > p0170).
- A changeover of the command data set was commanded, but the command data set was not changed over.
What to check
- Read the currently selected command data set from r0836 and compare it with the number of configured command data sets in p0170 — the alarm condition is a selection above that count (p0836 > p0170).
- Check the signal sources interconnected to p0810 and p0811, bit 0 and bit 1 of the command data set selection, through which a changeover is commanded.
- Select an existing command data set, so the selection points to a data set within the configured count.
- If the application genuinely needs more data sets, set up additional command data sets — their number is defined in p0170.

- p0810 — BI: command data set selection CDS bit 0; the signal interconnected here forms bit 0 of the CDS selection.

Acknowledging and restarting
This alarm does not require acknowledgment. It clears once the command data set selection again points to a data set that exists — after an existing command data set has been selected or after additional command data sets have been set up.
