A07321Drive: Automatic restart active

What it means

A07321 is raised while the automatic restart (AR) function is active. In this mode the drive switches itself back on without an operator: when the line supply returns and/or the causes of pending faults are removed, the drive is automatically restarted, the pulses are enabled and the motor starts to rotate.

The G120 and G120XA manuals additionally describe the mode p1210 = 26, in which restarting is realized with the delayed setting of the ON command.

No acknowledgement is required for this alarm; it simply tells you that the drive may start up on its own.

Why it appears

  • The automatic restart (AR) is active — it has been configured in the drive and is inhibited with p1210 = 0.
  • The trigger for the reported behavior is that the line supply returns and/or the causes of pending faults are removed; the drive is then automatically switched back on.

What to check

  1. If the drive should not restart by itself, inhibit the automatic restart by setting p1210 = 0.
  2. To interrupt an automatic restart directly, withdraw the switch-on command (the signal at BI: p0840, the ON/OFF1 command).
  3. With p1210 = 26, the restart is interrupted by withdrawing the OFF2 or OFF3 command instead.

Parameters the manual names

  • p1210 — automatic restart (AR) mode. Setting it to 0 inhibits the automatic restart so the drive no longer switches itself back on; the value 26 selects the variant in which restarting is realized with the delayed setting of the ON command.
  • p0840 — BI: ON / OFF (OFF1), the switch-on command input. Withdrawing this command interrupts an automatic restart directly.

Acknowledging and restarting

Nothing has to be acknowledged for this alarm. If the automatic restart is unwanted, inhibit it with p1210 = 0; a restart already in progress is interrupted by withdrawing the switch-on command (BI: p0840) or — with p1210 = 26 — the OFF2/OFF3 command. Until one of these steps is taken, the drive switches back on by itself whenever the line supply returns or the causes of pending faults are removed.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does alarm A07321 in SINAMICS drives mean?

It reports that the automatic restart (AR) function is active. When the line supply returns and/or the causes of pending faults are removed, the drive switches back on by itself, enables the pulses and the motor starts to rotate.

How do I stop a SINAMICS drive from restarting automatically (A07321)?

Inhibit the automatic restart by setting p1210 = 0. A restart that is already running can be interrupted directly by withdrawing the switch-on command at BI: p0840; with p1210 = 26, by withdrawing the OFF2 or OFF3 command.

Does A07321 need to be acknowledged?

No. The alarm only reports that automatic restart is active; to end the behavior itself, set p1210 = 0 or withdraw the switch-on command.

Why does my motor start on its own after a mains failure or a fault?

Because automatic restart is configured: the drive restarts automatically when the line supply returns or the fault causes are removed. With p1210 = 26 the restart is realized with the delayed setting of the ON command.
