A01697 — SI Motion: Test stop for motion monitoring functions required

A01697 is a Safety Integrated (SI) message with the text “SI Motion: Test stop for motion monitoring functions required”. It is raised when the time set in p9559 for the forced checking procedure — the test stop of the safe motion monitoring functions — has been exceeded, so the drive demands a new forced checking procedure.

The message does not result in a safety stop response. Depending on the drive’s configuration, the same condition can also be issued as a fault instead of an alarm.

The test must be performed within the interval set in p9559 (maximum of 9000 hours) to comply with the requirements laid down in the standards for timely fault detection and the conditions used to calculate the failure rates of the safety functions (PFH value). Operation beyond this maximum period is permissible only if it is ensured that the forced checking procedure is performed before persons enter the hazardous area who are depending on the safety functions functioning correctly.

• The monitoring time set in p9559 for the forced checking procedure (test stop) of the safe motion monitoring functions has elapsed — a new forced checking procedure is required.
• Because the switch-off signal paths are not automatically checked during booting, the alarm is always issued once booting is complete, so it reappears after every boot until a test stop has been carried out.

1. Read r9765 to see how much time still remains before the forced checking procedure falls due.
2. Carry out the forced checking procedure (test stop) of the safety motion monitoring functions; the signal source that selects it is set via binector input p9705.
3. Observe the manual’s restriction: It is not permissible to use TM54F inputs to select the forced checking procedure.

• p9559 (SI Motion forced checking procedure timer) — sets the monitoring interval whose expiry triggers this alarm; the interval can be at most 9000 hours.
• r9765 (SI Motion forced checking procedure remaining time) — shows the time still remaining before the next test stop is due.
• p9705 (BI: SI Motion test stop signal source) — the binector input through which the signal source for selecting the forced checking procedure is set.

Once the forced checking procedure has been selected via the signal source configured in p9705, the message is withdrawn by itself and the monitoring time in p9559 is reset — no further action is required on the message. Until the test stop is performed, the alarm reappears after every boot, but the drive executes no safety stop response for it.
