A01049CU: It is not possible to write to file

What it means

A01049 is an alarm from the Control Unit (CU): a write request into the non-volatile memory was interrupted because the target file PSxxxxxx.acx is write-protected and cannot be written. The alarm value in r2124, interpreted as a decimal number, identifies the drive object concerned.

The wording of this message is the same on all families that list it; what differs is the parameter the manual suggests for repeating the save afterwards (p0977 on some families, p0971 on others — see the checks below).

Why it appears

  • The Control Unit cannot write into the write-protected file PSxxxxxx.acx.
  • The write request was interrupted.

What to check

  1. Check whether the "write protected" attribute has been set for the files in the non-volatile memory under .../USER/SINAMICS/DATA/...
  2. If it has, remove the write protection.
  3. Repeat the save operation: on the S120, S150, G130 and G150, for example by setting p0977 = 1; on the G120 and G120XA, for example by setting p0971 = 1.

Reading the message value

  • The alarm value is stored in r2124. Interpret it as a decimal number: it contains the drive object number.

Parameters the manual names

  • r2124 (Alarm value) — read this alarm value after the message appears and interpret it as a decimal number; it tells you which drive object the write problem refers to.
  • p0977 (Save all parameters) — on the S120, S150, G130 and G150 the manual names setting p0977 = 1 as the way to repeat the save once the write protection has been removed.
  • p0971 (Save parameters) — on the G120 and G120XA the manual names setting p0971 = 1 for the same purpose.

Acknowledging and restarting

No acknowledgement is required for this alarm, and the drive takes no automatic action in response to it. Putting things right is the remedy itself: remove the write protection and repeat the save operation.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does alarm A01049 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

The Control Unit could not write into the write-protected file PSxxxxxx.acx, so the write request was interrupted. The alarm value in r2124, read as a decimal number, gives the drive object number.

How do I fix alarm A01049?

Check the files under .../USER/SINAMICS/DATA/... in the non-volatile memory for the "write protected" attribute, remove it where it is set, then repeat the save operation.

Which parameter repeats the save after A01049?

It depends on the family: p0977 (Save all parameters) on the S120, S150, G130 and G150, p0971 (Save parameters) on the G120 and G120XA.

Does A01049 have to be acknowledged?

No. No acknowledgement is required, and the drive takes no automatic action in response to the alarm.
