F35221TM: Setpoint - actual value deviation outside the tolerance range

What it means

F35221 is reported by a Terminal Module (TM). The drive raises it when the signals the module outputs on track A/B no longer follow the setpoint within the permitted tolerance: the deviation between the setpoint and the output signals (track A/B) may be at most +/-3 %, and the deviation between the internal and the external measured value may be at most 1000 pulses. When either limit is exceeded, the drive trips and the message must be acknowledged before it can run again. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output as an alarm (A) or with no reaction at all (N).

Why it appears

  • The deviation between the setpoint and the output signals (track A/B) exceeds the tolerance of +/-3 %.
  • The deviation between the internal and the external measured value is too high, at more than 1000 pulses.

What to check

  1. Reduce the basic clock cycle (p0110, p0111).
  2. If the fault keeps occurring, replace the component — the manual gives an internal short-circuit as an example of a reason why replacement may be required.

Parameters the manual names

  • p0110, p0111 — basic clock cycle: reducing these values is the first remedy the manual gives for this fault.

Acknowledging and restarting

Acknowledge the fault immediately once the cause has been removed; the message is also cleared by switching the drive off and on again (POWER ON). If the drive is configured to output this condition only as an alarm (A) or with no reaction (N), the manual specifies no reaction and no acknowledgement for those variants.

What differs between the drive families

Straight from the manuals' own fields — F35221 is not described identically everywhere.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F35221 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

A Terminal Module has detected that the deviation between the setpoint and its output signals on track A/B exceeds +/-3 %, or that the internal and external measured values differ by more than 1000 pulses.

How do I clear fault F35221?

Reduce the basic clock cycle (p0110, p0111) and, if the fault continues, replace the component — an internal short-circuit is a possible reason. The message must then be acknowledged immediately; a POWER ON also removes it.

Can F35221 appear as an alarm instead of a fault?

Yes. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be signalled as an alarm (A) or with no reaction at all (N); for those variants the manual specifies no reaction and no acknowledgement.
