What it means

F32152 is raised when the signal frequency arriving from the encoder connected as Encoder 2 exceeds the maximum frequency that the encoder evaluation can process. The manuals title it Encoder 2: Max. signal frequency (track A/B) exceeded and Encoder 2: Maximum input frequency exceeded — two wordings for the same condition on the Encoder 2 sensor evaluation. The fault value records the actual input frequency in Hz, so you can see on the operator panel how far the limit was exceeded. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be output as an alarm or as a message with no reaction at all.

Why it appears

  • The encoder on the Encoder 2 input delivers a signal frequency above the maximum the encoder evaluation accepts. This frequency rises both with the speed of the encoder shaft and with the encoder's pulse number, so an encoder whose pulse number is too high for the speed being driven trips this message.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949, interpreting it as a decimal number: it shows the actual input frequency in Hz at which the limit was exceeded.
  2. Reduce the speed so the encoder signal frequency falls back within the range the encoder evaluation can handle.
  3. If the application cannot run slower, use an encoder with a lower pulse number and enter its pulse number in p0408.
