What it means

F32125 is raised when the signal level — the root from A² + B² — that Encoder 2 delivers exceeds the permissible limit. The S120/S150 manual titles the condition “Encoder 2: Signal level track A or B too high”, the G130/G150 manual “Encoder 2: Amplitude error track A or B overcontrolled”, and the latter wording adds that the fault also occurs if the analog/digital converter is overcontrolled. The drive reacts with OFF1. For incremental encoders the nominal signal level must lie between 375 mV and 600 mV (500 mV −25/+20 %); the response threshold is > 750 mV. For Sensor Modules for resolvers such as the SMC10 the nominal signal level is 2900 mV (2.0 Vrms) and the response threshold is > 3582 mV. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as an alarm or as a message without reaction. The analog values of the amplitude error are not measured at the same time with the hardware fault output by the Sensor Module.

Why it appears

  • The signal level (root from A² + B²) of Encoder 2 exceeds the permissible limit value — in the G130/G150 wording, the amplitude of track A or B leaves the permissible tolerance band.
  • The fault also occurs if the analog/digital converter is overcontrolled.

What to check

  1. Check that the encoder cables and the shielding are routed in compliance with EMC.
  2. Replace the encoder or the encoder cable.

Reading the message value

The drive packs both track levels into the fault value in r0949, which must be interpreted as hexadecimal yyyyxxxx:

  • yyyy = Signal level, track B (16 bits with sign)
  • xxxx = Signal level, track A (16 bits with sign)

Reference values from the manual: a signal level of 500 mV peak value corresponds to the numerical value 5333 hex = 21299 dec; for resolver Sensor Modules such as the SMC10, a signal level of 2900 mV peak value corresponds to the numerical value 6666 hex = 26214 dec. The message value is shown as “A track: %1, B-track: %2”, so the two placeholders carry the track A and track B levels.

Acknowledging and restarting
