F30683SI Motion P2: SLS enable missing

What it means

F30683 is a Safety Integrated (SI) message from the SI Motion monitoring and is raised when a safety-relevant function is not enabled in p9301 although other safety-relevant monitoring functions are enabled. The manuals print the fault under two titles: on the S120, S150, G130 and G150 it reads "SI Motion P2: SOS/SLS enable missing", and the missing enable there concerns the basic function "SOS/SLS" — SOS: Safe Operating Stop (SBH: Safe operating stop), SLS: Safely-Limited Speed (SG: Safely reduced speed). On the G120 the title reads "SI Motion P2: SLS enable missing"; there the manual names the safety-relevant function "SLS" and assigns p9301, the SI Motion enable safety functions parameter, to processor 2 — the P2 of the title. Both variants point to the same enable, p9301.0, and share the same remedy. The manuals note that the message does not result in a safety stop response.

Why it appears

  • The safety-relevant basic function "SOS/SLS" is not enabled in p9301 although other safety-relevant monitoring functions are enabled — the wording of the S120, S150, G130 and G150 entries; the G120 entry describes the same condition as the safety-relevant function "SLS" not being enabled in p9301.

What to check

  1. Set the missing enable in p9301.0: switch on "SOS/SLS" — on the G120 the "SLS" function — in the SI Motion enable safety functions parameter.
  2. On the G120, save the changed enable before powering down: Save the changes before POWER ON (copy from RAM to ROM).
  3. Carry out a POWER ON; the drive restarts with the safety-relevant function enabled and the fault is cleared.

Parameters the manual names

  • p9301 — "SI Motion enable safety functions (Motor Module)" / "SI Mtn enable MM", assigned to processor 2 on the G120. Its enable p9301.0 switches "SOS/SLS" (G120: "SLS") on and is the parameter this fault asks you to change.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive trips to OFF2 when F30683 is raised. A plain fault reset is not enough: set the enable in p9301.0 — on the G120 saved from RAM to ROM beforehand — and then carry out a POWER ON, which acknowledges the fault and restarts the drive with the safety-relevant function enabled.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F30683 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

Safety Integrated reports that a safety-relevant function is not enabled in p9301 although other safety-relevant monitoring functions are enabled. The S120, S150, G130 and G150 manuals name the missing function "SOS/SLS"; the G120 manual names "SLS".

Which parameter belongs to F30683?

p9301, the SI Motion enable safety functions parameter (SI Mtn enable MM; processor 2 on the G120). Its enable p9301.0 must switch the missing function on.

How is F30683 reset?

Set the enable in p9301.0 and carry out a POWER ON; on the G120, save the change from RAM to ROM before switching the power off.

Does F30683 trigger a safety stop?

No. The manuals note that this message does not result in a safety stop response.
