F30688SI Motion P2: Actual value synchronization not permissible

What it means

F30688 is a Safety Integrated fault of the SI Motion P2 group: the function “actual value synchronization” has been enabled in a combination that the drive does not permit. The manual lists three such inadmissible combinations (see causes below); the drive object then coasts down (OFF2) and the fault additionally results in a STOP A that cannot be acknowledged. The G130/G150 and S120/S150 entries describe the condition identically, so the same checking procedure applies on every family. The manual prints no message value for this fault, so the value display carries no further diagnostic information.

Why it appears

  • Actual value synchronization has been enabled although the drive is set up as a 1-encoder system; the function is only permissible in a 2-encoder system.
  • Actual value synchronization and a monitoring function with absolute reference — SCA (Safe Cam) or SLP (Safely-Limited Position) — have been enabled at the same time.
  • Actual value synchronization and safe position via PROFIsafe (SP: Safe Position) have been enabled at the same time.

What to check

  1. Check in p9501 which SI Motion safety functions are enabled in the Control Unit and whether actual value synchronization is among them.
  2. Resolve the encoder question: either deselect actual value synchronization, or parameterize a 2-encoder system — the encoder for the second channel is assigned in p9526.
  3. If a monitoring function with absolute reference (SCA/SLP) is enabled, deselect either this monitoring function or actual value synchronization — both together is not permissible.
  4. If safe position via PROFIsafe is enabled, deselect either actual value synchronization or this function.
  5. Carry out a POWER ON so that the corrected configuration is accepted.

Parameters the manual names

  • p9501 — SI Motion enable safety functions (Control Unit): here you see which SI Motion functions are enabled and deselect any function that may not be combined with actual value synchronization.
  • p9526 — SI Motion encoder assignment second channel: here the second-channel encoder is assigned, which is what a 2-encoder system requires if actual value synchronization is to remain enabled.

Acknowledging and restarting

A simple acknowledge does not clear F30688; the fault is acknowledged by POWER ON — the drive must be switched off and on again after the inadmissible combination has been removed. The STOP A that the fault triggers cannot be acknowledged either, so the stop also ends only once the parameterization has been corrected and the POWER ON has been carried out.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes F30688 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F30688 on a SINAMICS mean?

It is an SI Motion P2 parameterization fault: “actual value synchronization” has been enabled in a combination the drive does not permit — with a 1-encoder system, together with SCA/SLP monitoring functions with absolute reference, or together with safe position via PROFIsafe.

How is F30688 acknowledged?

Only by POWER ON: after deselecting one of the conflicting functions, the drive must be switched off and on again. The STOP A that the fault causes cannot be acknowledged.

Why does actual value synchronization trigger F30688 with only one encoder?

Because the drive does not permit actual value synchronization for a 1-encoder system. Either deselect the function or parameterize a 2-encoder system, with the second-channel encoder assigned in p9526.

Which parameters belong to fault F30688?

p9501 enables the SI Motion safety functions in the Control Unit and p9526 assigns the encoder for the second channel — both are where you remove the inadmissible combination before performing POWER ON.
