F07512Drive: Encoder data set changeover cannot be parameterized

What it means

F07512 reports that a changeover of the encoder data set has been prepared with p0141 in a way the drive considers illegal. In this firmware release, an encoder data set changeover is only permitted for the components that are actually present in the topology. The manuals give the same cause and the same remedy for G130, G150, S120 and S150, so one explanation covers every family. While the fault is active, the drive coasts down and must be acknowledged before it will start again.

Why it appears

  • A changeover of the encoder data set has been prepared via p0141 that is not permissible.
  • The firmware release in use only allows an encoder data set changeover for the components in the actual topology.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 and interpret it as a decimal number: it contains the incorrect EDS data set number.
  2. Make sure that every encoder data set is assigned its own dedicated DRIVE-CLiQ socket.
  3. Check the component numbers of the encoder interfaces in p0141: within a drive object they must have different values, p0141[0] not equal to p0141[1] not equal to ... not equal to p0141[n].
  4. For the data set numbers behind the changeover, consult p0187 (encoder 1 encoder data set number), p0188 (encoder 2) and p0189 (encoder 3), which the manuals cross-reference for this fault.

Reading the message value

  • The drive stores the fault value in r0949, which the manual says to interpret as a decimal number.
  • The value is the incorrect EDS data set number.

Parameters the manual names

  • p0141 — encoder interface component number: the parameter with which the encoder data set changeover is prepared; its values must all differ within the affected drive object.
  • r0949 — fault value: read the incorrect EDS data set number here, interpreted as a decimal number.
  • p0187 — encoder 1 encoder data set number, cross-referenced in the cause of this fault.
  • p0188 — encoder 2 encoder data set number, cross-referenced in the cause of this fault.
  • p0189 — encoder 3 encoder data set number, cross-referenced in the cause of this fault.

Acknowledging and restarting

Correct the p0141 assignment and the DRIVE-CLiQ socket assignment as described above, then acknowledge F07512. The drive must be acknowledged before it will start again; the acknowledgement behaviour the manuals assign to this code is shown in the table on this page.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes F07512 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07512 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

The drive has prepared an encoder data set changeover via p0141 that is illegal; in this firmware release such a changeover is only permitted for the components in the actual topology.

How do I fix F07512?

Assign every encoder data set its own dedicated DRIVE-CLiQ socket and give the encoder interface component numbers in p0141 different values within the drive object, then acknowledge the fault.

Where can I see which encoder data set number is incorrect?

In the fault value r0949, which you interpret as a decimal number — it contains the incorrect EDS data set number.

Which parameters are involved in the encoder data set changeover?

p0141 prepares the changeover, and the encoder data set numbers of encoders 1, 2 and 3 are held in p0187, p0188 and p0189.
