F07448Load gear: Position tracking, linear axis has exceeded the maximum range

What it means

F07448 is raised when, on a configured linear axis (no modulo axis), the currently effective motor encoder (encoder 1) has exceeded the maximum possible traversing range. For the configured linear axis, this maximum traversing range is defined as 64x (+/- 32x) of p0421; the position is read in p2721 and interpreted as the number of load revolutions.

Only the motor encoder in the currently effective drive data set is monitored. Which data set is effective is shown in r0051, and the corresponding motor encoder is specified in p0187[x]. The same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A) with no reaction and no acknowledgement; which form appears depends on the drive's configuration.

Why it appears

  • For a configured linear axis (no modulo axis), the currently effective motor encoder (encoder 1) has exceeded the maximum possible traversing range.
  • For the configured linear axis, the maximum traversing range is defined as 64x (+/- 32x) of p0421; the position is read in p2721 and interpreted as the number of load revolutions.

What to check

  1. Select encoder commissioning: p0010 = 4.
  2. Reset position tracking, position: p2720.2 = 1.
  3. Deselect encoder commissioning: p0010 = 0.
  4. If you need to confirm which encoder was monitored, read the currently effective drive data set in r0051; the corresponding motor encoder is specified in p0187[x].

Parameters the manual names

  • p0010 — set to 4 to select encoder commissioning before the reset, and back to 0 to deselect it afterwards.
  • p2720 — set p2720.2 = 1 to reset position tracking, position.
  • p0421 — its value defines the maximum traversing range of the linear axis, 64x (+/- 32x) of p0421.
  • p2721 — read the position here; the value is interpreted as the number of load revolutions.
  • p0187 — p0187[x] specifies the motor encoder belonging to drive data set x, where x is the effective data set shown in r0051.

Acknowledging and restarting

Once the steps above have been carried out, the fault should be acknowledged and the absolute encoder adjusted. When the condition is issued as an alarm (A) instead of a fault, no acknowledgement is required.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07448 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

On a configured linear axis (no modulo axis) the currently effective motor encoder (encoder 1) has exceeded the maximum possible traversing range, which is defined as 64x (+/- 32x) of p0421.

How do I clear fault F07448?

Select encoder commissioning (p0010 = 4), reset position tracking, position (p2720.2 = 1) and deselect encoder commissioning (p0010 = 0). The fault is then acknowledged and the absolute encoder adjusted.

Which encoder is monitored for F07448?

Only the motor encoder in the currently effective drive data set. The effective data set is shown in r0051, and the corresponding motor encoder is specified in p0187[x].

Where is the position read that leads to F07448?

In p2721, where the value is interpreted as the number of load revolutions and compared against the maximum traversing range of 64x (+/- 32x) of p0421.
