F07447Load gear: Position tracking, maximum actual value exceeded

What it means

F07447 is raised when position tracking of the load gear is configured and the drive or the motor encoder identifies a maximum possible absolute position actual value (r2723) that can no longer be represented within 32 bits. The drive calculates this maximum value as p0408 * p2721 * 2^p0419 — the rotary encoder pulse number multiplied by the virtual revolutions of the load gear rotary absolute encoder and by 2 to the power of the configured fine resolution. When this product overflows the 32-bit range, the drive sets the fault and names the affected drive data set, component number and encoder data set in the message value.

Why it appears

  • With position tracking of the load gear configured, the drive/encoder (motor encoder) identifies a maximum possible absolute position actual value (r2723) that can no longer be represented within 32 bits.
  • The maximum value is p0408 * p2721 * 2^p0419, so the configured combination of encoder pulse number, virtual multiturn revolutions and fine resolution overflows the 32-bit range.

What to check

  1. Reduce the fine resolution (p0419) so that the maximum possible absolute position actual value fits within 32 bits again.
  2. Reduce the multiturn resolution (p2721) — the virtual revolutions of the load gear rotary absolute encoder — as the other remedy the manual gives.

Reading the message value

  • The drive fills the message value as follows: component number in %1, encoder data set in %2, drive data set in %3.
  • Fault value (r0949, interpret hexadecimal): ccbbaa
    • aa = encoder data set
    • bb = component number
    • cc = drive data set

Parameters the manual names

  • p0419 (Fine resolution absolute value Gx_XIST2 (in bits)) — the configured fine resolution; 2^p0419 is a factor in the maximum value, and reducing it is one of the two remedies the manual gives.
  • p2721 (Load gear rotary absolute encoder revolutions virtual) — the virtual revolutions of the load gear rotary absolute encoder; reducing it is the manual's other remedy.
  • p0408 (Rotary encoder pulse number) — the pulse number of the rotary encoder; it enters the maximum value p0408 * p2721 * 2^p0419 as a factor.
  • r2723 (CO: Load gear absolute value) — the maximum possible absolute position actual value the drive/encoder identifies; it is the value that can no longer be represented within 32 bits.
  • r0949 (Fault value) — holds the fault value; read it and interpret it as hexadecimal to identify the encoder data set, component number and drive data set concerned.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive triggers no automatic reaction to this fault, but it must be acknowledged immediately. Once you have reduced p0419 and/or p2721 so that the maximum possible absolute position actual value again fits within 32 bits, acknowledge the fault; the manual describes no further reset steps for this code.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07447 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

With load gear position tracking configured, the maximum possible absolute position actual value (r2723) — calculated as p0408 * p2721 * 2^p0419 — can no longer be represented within 32 bits. The message value names the drive data set, component number and encoder data set concerned.

How do I clear fault F07447?

Reduce the fine resolution (p0419) or reduce the multiturn resolution (p2721) so that the maximum value fits within 32 bits again, then acknowledge the fault immediately.

How is the F07447 fault value decoded?

Read r0949 and interpret it as hexadecimal ccbbaa: aa is the encoder data set, bb the component number and cc the drive data set.

Which parameters are behind F07447?

The rotary encoder pulse number p0408, the virtual multiturn revolutions p2721 and the fine resolution p0419 together form the maximum value. The manual's remedy is to reduce p0419 or p2721.
