What it means
F07016 is output when the drive detects an error while evaluating the motor temperature sensor configured in p0600 and p0601 (the G120 and G120XA manuals name only p0601). The fault is coupled to alarm A07015: while the alarm is present, the time in p0607 runs, and if the sensor condition is still present after this time has expired, the drive outputs F07016 — at the earliest 50 ms after A07015.
Why it appears
- Wire break, or the sensor is not connected. The manuals print the detection thresholds as KTY: R > 1630 Ohm and PT1000: R > 1720 Ohm; for the G120 and G120XA the threshold is R > 2120 Ohm for both KTY and PT1000.
- Measured resistance too low: PTC: R < 20 Ohm, KTY: R < 50 Ohm, PT1000: R < 603 Ohm.
What to check
- Make sure that the sensor is connected correctly.
- Check the sensor parameterization (p0600, p0601); the G120 and G120XA manuals name p0601.
- Induction motors: deactivate the temperature sensor fault by setting p0607 = 0.
- When TM120 and SMC/SME are being used (p0601 = 10, 11), set the same sensor type on the drive (p4610 ... p4613) as for the TM120 — this step is described in the S120/S150 and G130/G150 manuals.
- Check the setting of the lower threshold (p4622); this step appears in the S120/S150 manual.
Reading the message value
- The fault value is stored in r0949, interpret decimal.
- If SME/TM120 is selected (p0601 = 10, 11), the value is the number of the temperature channel leading to the message.
Parameters the manual names
- p0600 — motor temperature sensor for monitoring; check which sensor is selected here together with p0601 when the fault appears.
- p0601 — motor temperature sensor type; check this setting, and note that p0601 = 10, 11 selects SME/TM120.
- p0607 — temperature sensor fault timer: the delay that runs while A07015 is present before F07016 is output; setting p0607 = 0 deactivates the temperature sensor fault for induction motors.
- r0949 — fault value: read the message value here, interpreted decimal; with SME/TM120 it contains the number of the temperature channel.
- p4610 ... p4613 — motor temperature sensor 1 ... 4 sensor type MDS: set the same sensor type on the drive as for the TM120 when p0601 = 10, 11.
- p4622 — temperature sensor error lower threshold: check its setting as part of the remedy (S120/S150 manual).
- r0035 — CO: motor temperature; the signal the manuals cross-reference for this fault.
Acknowledging and restarting
Remove the cause first — connect the sensor correctly and correct the parameterization — then acknowledge the fault. The drive must be acknowledged before it will restart; if the sensor condition is still present, F07016 is output again once the time in p0607 has expired.

Questions technicians ask
What does SINAMICS fault F07016 mean?
The drive detected an error while evaluating the motor temperature sensor selected in p0600 and p0601 — typically a wire break or a sensor resistance outside the permissible range.
Which sensor resistances trigger F07016?
Wire break: KTY R > 1630 Ohm and PT1000 R > 1720 Ohm (on the G120 and G120XA: R > 2120 Ohm for both sensor types). Resistance too low: PTC R < 20 Ohm, KTY R < 50 Ohm, PT1000 R < 603 Ohm.
How are alarm A07015 and fault F07016 related?
When A07015 is present, the time in p0607 starts; if the condition is still present after this time has expired, F07016 is output — at the earliest 50 ms after the alarm.
Can the motor temperature sensor monitoring be switched off?
For induction motors the manual's remedy is to deactivate the temperature sensor fault by setting p0607 = 0.
