F33101Encoder 3: Zero mark failed

What it means

F33101 means that the zero mark monitoring on Encoder 3 has tripped: since POWER ON or since the last zero mark that was detected, the encoder has traveled 1.5 × the zero mark distance parameterized for this monitoring without a zero mark being recognized. The monitoring distance is taken from p0425 for a rotary encoder and from p0424 for a linear encoder. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A) or without any reaction (N).

Why it appears

  • The distance traveled since POWER ON or since the last detected zero mark has exceeded 1.5 × the zero mark distance set in p0425 (rotary encoder) or p0424 (linear encoder).

What to check

  1. Check that the encoder cables are routed in compliance with EMC.
  2. Check the plug connections.
  3. Check the encoder type — the monitoring expects an encoder with equidistant zero marks.
  4. Adapt the parameterized clearance between zero marks (p0425) to the encoder actually connected.
  5. If the message is output above the speed threshold, reduce the filter time (p0438) if necessary.
  6. When bit 1 in p0437 is active, check p4686.
  7. If the fault remains, replace the encoder or the encoder cable.

Reading the message value

  • The message value (%1) is the fault value, which can be read in r0949 and is interpreted as a decimal number.
  • It contains the number of increments after POWER ON or since the last zero mark that was detected.
  • 4 increments correspond to 1 encoder pulse.

Parameters the manual names

Acknowledging and restarting

Acknowledgment is possible with the pulses inhibited: stop the drive so that pulse inhibit is reached, acknowledge the fault there and then restart the drive. When the drive is configured to issue the condition as an alarm (A) or without reaction (N), the manual specifies neither a reaction nor an acknowledgment.
