What it means
F30656 is raised when the drive hits an error while reading the Safety Integrated (SI) parameters of monitoring channel 2 out of the non-volatile memory — on G120 the affected unit is the second parameter processor, which is why its manual titles the code SI P2: Parameter processor 2 parameter error
. On G130, G150, S120 and S150 the channel belongs to the Motor Module (MM). The fault forces a STOP A that can be acknowledged, and the drive only comes back after a POWER ON.
Why it appears
- An error occurred while the Safety Integrated parameters for monitoring channel 2 (on G120: for processor 2) were being accessed in the non-volatile memory.
- What exactly failed is told by the fault value in r0949: corrupted SI parameters (129) or an internal software error on the Control Unit, on the Motor Module/Hydraulic Module or — on G120 — on one of the two processors (131, 255).
What to check
- Re-commission the safety functions.
- Upgrade the Control Unit software and, on the Motor Module variant, the Motor Module/Hydraulic Module software as well — the G120 manual does not list this step.
- Replace the memory card or the Control Unit.
- If the fault value (r0949, read as a decimal number) is 129, run this sequence:
- Activate the safety commissioning mode (p0010 = 95).
- Adapt the PROFIsafe address (p9610) — this step is printed for the Motor Module variant only.
- Start the copy function for SI parameters (p9700 = D0 hex).
- Acknowledge the data change (p9701 = DC hex).
- Leave the safety commissioning mode (p0010 = 0).
- Save all parameters (p0977 = 1, or "copy RAM to ROM"; G120 saves with p0971 = 1).
- Carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on) for all components — on G120 for the Control Unit.
Reading the message value
The message value carries the fault value, which r0949 shows as a decimal number:
- 129 — the safety parameters of monitoring channel 2 (G120: of processor 2) are corrupted; for the Motor Module variant the manual adds that a drive with enabled safety functions may have been copied offline in the commissioning tool and the project downloaded.
- 131 — internal software error on the Control Unit (G120: on processor 1).
- 255 — internal software error on the Motor Module/Hydraulic Module (G120: on processor 2).
Parameters the manual names
- r0949 — read the fault value here, interpreted as a decimal number, to see whether case 129, 131 or 255 applies.
- p0010 — set to 95 to enter the safety commissioning mode and back to 0 to leave it.
- p9610 — adapt the PROFIsafe address of the Control Unit here (Motor Module variant, fault value 129).
- p9700 — set to D0 hex to start the copy function for SI parameters.
- p9701 — set to DC hex to acknowledge the changed SI data.
- p0977 — set to 1, or run "copy RAM to ROM", to save all parameters after the copy (Motor Module variant).
- p0971 — the G120 performs the same save with this parameter set to 1.
Acknowledging and restarting
Once the remedy is done, the fault clears only on a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on) of all components — on G120 of the Control Unit. The STOP A produced by the fault can then be acknowledged.
What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask
What does fault F30656 mean in SINAMICS?
The drive found an error while reading the Safety Integrated parameters of monitoring channel 2 (parameter processor 2 on G120) from the non-volatile memory. The fault value in r0949 tells which of the cases 129, 131 or 255 applies.
How do I clear F30656 with fault value 129?
Activate the safety commissioning mode (p0010 = 95), adapt the PROFIsafe address p9610 where the manual provides it, copy the SI parameters with p9700 = D0 hex and acknowledge with p9701 = DC hex. Then exit the mode, save all parameters and POWER ON the components.
Why does F30656 appear after I copied a project offline?
Fault value 129 means the SI parameters of monitoring channel 2 are corrupted — possibly a drive with enabled safety functions was copied offline in the commissioning tool and its project downloaded.
How is F30656 acknowledged?
By a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on) of all components once the safety functions have been re-commissioned and the parameters saved; on G120 the POWER ON concerns the Control Unit.
