What it means
F07481 is raised by the EPOS function when the actual position of the axis is less than the position of the software limit switch minus — the axis has moved below the lower position limit that this monitoring defines. The message carries no additional message value. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output as an alarm (A).
Why it appears
- The actual position of the axis has fallen below the position of the software limit switch minus.
What to check
- Correct the target position so that the axis no longer travels below the software limit switch minus.
- Change the software limit switch minus if the lower limit itself must be moved — the manual names p2578 and p2580 for this (see the parameter notes below).
Parameters the manual names
- p2578 — CI: EPOS software limit switch minus signal source. Here you select the source from which the drive takes the software limit switch minus, when the limit position is to be supplied from a different source.
- p2580 — CO: EPOS software limit switch minus. This holds the limit position against which the actual axis position is compared; change it to move the software limit switch minus.
- p2582 — BI: EPOS software limit switch activation. The signal that activates the software limit switch monitoring; the manual references it together with this fault.
Acknowledging and restarting
As a fault, the message stops the drive with OFF1; depending on the configuration, OFF2 or OFF3 can be set as the reaction instead. Once the target position or the software limit switch minus has been corrected and the axis position lies within the limit again, the fault can be acknowledged immediately and the drive restarted. In its alarm form (A) the message causes no reaction and needs no acknowledgment.
What differs between the drive families
Straight from the manuals' own fields — F07481 is not described identically everywhere.
| Drive family | Reaction | Acknowledge | Message class | Component | Manual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S120, S150 | OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) | — | Application/technological function faulted (17) | None | SINAMICS S120, S150 List Manual · p. 2826 |
| G130, G150 | OFF1 (OFF2, OFF3) | IMMEDIATELY | Application/technological function faulted (17) | None | SINAMICS G130, G150 List Manual · p. 1563 |

Questions technicians ask
What does fault F07481 mean on a SINAMICS drive?
The EPOS function detected that the actual position of the axis is less than the position of the software limit switch minus, so the axis sits below the lower permitted position.
How do I clear fault F07481?
Correct the target position, or change the software limit switch minus via p2578 (signal source) and p2580 (limit position). Then acknowledge the fault immediately and restart the drive.
Can F07481 also appear as an alarm?
Yes. Depending on the drive configuration the same condition can also be output as an alarm (A); in that form it causes no reaction and requires no acknowledgment.
Which parameters belong to F07481?
p2578 selects the signal source of the software limit switch minus, p2580 holds the limit position itself, and p2582 activates the software limit switch monitoring.
