F07439Drive: Function not supported

What it means

F07439 is raised when a function selected in the drive parameterization is not supported by the connected power unit — or, in one case, by the configured safety technology without encoder. Two of the selections concerned sit in the modulator configuration p1810: the function “Current controller dynamic response higher” and the function “DC link voltage compensation in the power unit”. The message value carries the fault value (1, 2 or 3), so read it first — it tells you which selection is the problem before you touch anything.

Why it appears

  • The power unit does not support the selected function.
  • Fault value 1: “Current controller dynamic response higher” is selected in p1810, but the power unit firmware properties (r0192) report the function as not supported — the manual names two possible reasons: the firmware of the booksize power unit is not up-to-date, or a blocksize power unit is in use.
  • Fault value 2: “Current controller dynamic response higher” is selected in p1810, but the safety technology without encoder does not support this function.
  • Fault value 3: “DC link voltage compensation in the power unit” is selected in p1810, but the power unit firmware properties (r0192) report the function as not supported.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value from the message value to see which selection is unsupported.
  2. Fault value 1: upgrade the firmware of the booksize power unit to a later version (version >= 4.4); if the firmware has already been upgraded automatically, only a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on) is required. Alternatively, use a booksize power unit with version >= 4.4.
  3. Fault value 2: if the Sensor Module properties (r0458) show that the connected encoder senses safety position actual values, reparameterize the encoderless safety technology (p9506 = 1, 3) to safety technology with encoder (p9506 = 0).
  4. Fault values 1 and 2: deselect the function “Current controller dynamics higher” in p1810 and, if required, set the current, speed and position controller again or calculate them (p0340 = 4).
  5. Fault value 3: upgrade the firmware of the blocksize power unit to a later version (version >= 4.6) and deselect the “DC link voltage compensation in the power unit” function (p1810.1 = 0).

Reading the message value

  • 1: “Current controller dynamic response higher” is selected, but the power unit does not support it.
  • 2: “Current controller dynamic response higher” is selected, but the safety technology without encoder does not support it.
  • 3: “DC link voltage compensation in the power unit” is selected, but the power unit does not support it.

Parameters the manual names

  • p1810 (Modulator configuration): carries both affected selections — clear the higher current controller dynamics function for fault values 1 and 2, and clear the DC link voltage compensation function (p1810.1 = 0) for fault value 3.
  • r0192 (Power unit firmware properties): shows which functions the connected power unit supports; the fault is raised when it denies the selected function.
  • r0458 (Sensor Module properties): shows whether the connected encoder senses safety position actual values — check it before switching p9506 over for fault value 2.
  • p9506 (SI Motion function specification, Control Unit): sets the safety technology function; for fault value 2 it must go from the encoderless setting (1, 3) to safety technology with encoder (0) when a suitable encoder is fitted.
  • p0340 (Automatic parameter calculation): run with p0340 = 4 after deselecting the higher current controller dynamics function to set the current, speed and position controller again.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive coasts down when this fault trips and must be acknowledged before it will run again — remove the unsupported selection first, following the fault value. For fault value 1, if the booksize power unit firmware has already been upgraded automatically, only a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on) is required.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07439 mean in a SINAMICS drive?

A function selected in the drive parameterization is not supported by the connected power unit — the higher current controller dynamics function or the DC link voltage compensation in the power unit. The fault value in the message value tells you which of the three cases applies.

How do I clear F07439 fault value 1?

Upgrade the booksize power unit firmware to version 4.4 or later and switch the power off and on, or use a booksize power unit with version >= 4.4. Alternatively, deselect the higher current controller dynamics function in p1810 and recalculate the controllers with p0340 = 4.

Why does F07439 involve the safety technology?

With fault value 2, the higher current controller dynamics function is not supported by the safety technology without encoder (p9506 = 1, 3). If an encoder with safety position actual values sensing is available (see r0458), reparameterize to safety technology with encoder (p9506 = 0).

Which parameters belong to F07439?

p1810 selects both affected functions, p9506 sets the safety technology function and p0340 recalculates the controllers after a change, while r0192 and r0458 show what the power unit and the Sensor Module support.
