F07434Drive: It is not possible to change the direction of rotation with the pulses enabled

What it means

F07434 is raised when a drive data set is selected while the pulses are enabled and that data set carries a different parameterized direction of rotation (p1821) than the data set that was active. The rule behind the fault: It is only possible to change the motor direction of rotation using p1821 when the pulses are inhibited. A changeover that would reverse the motor with pulses enabled is therefore rejected — the drive trips with OFF2 and the motor coasts down.

Why it appears

  • A drive data set was selected with the pulses enabled which has a different parameterized direction of rotation (p1821).
  • The drive only permits changing the motor direction of rotation via p1821 while the pulses are inhibited, so a data set changeover that would reverse the direction with pulses enabled faults the drive.

What to check

  1. Change over the drive data set only with the pulses inhibited.
  2. Ensure that the changeover to a drive data set does not result in the motor direction of rotation being changed: for the drive data sets concerned, the same value must be entered in p1821.

Parameters the manual names

  • p1821 — parameterized direction of rotation of the motor in the drive data set; all drive data sets that will be selected must contain the same value, and the direction of rotation may only be changed via p1821 while the pulses are inhibited.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive coasts down (OFF2) and the fault must be acknowledged immediately before the drive can be restarted. So that the fault does not reappear, change over drive data sets only with the pulses inhibited, or keep p1821 at the same value in all drive data sets that are selected.

The same on every family

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07434 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

A drive data set was selected while the pulses were enabled whose parameterized direction of rotation in p1821 differs. Changing the direction of rotation via p1821 is only permitted while the pulses are inhibited.

How do I clear F07434?

Change over the drive data set only with the pulses inhibited, and make sure p1821 contains the same value in every drive data set that will be selected. The fault is then acknowledged immediately.

Which parameter is behind F07434?

p1821, the parameterized direction of rotation of the motor. Every drive data set that can be selected with pulses enabled must contain the same value in p1821.

Why does the motor coast down when F07434 appears?

The drive reacts with OFF2, so the pulses are removed and the motor coasts. The fault must be acknowledged immediately before the drive can restart.
