F06050Infeed: Smart Mode not supported

What it means

An infeed raises F06050 when the connected power unit does not support the Smart Mode, or when pulse frequency wobbulation is activated (p1810). The affected drive objects switch off immediately (OFF2) and stay off until the fault has been acknowledged by switching the drive off and on again (POWER ON).

Why it appears

  • The power unit does not support the Smart Mode.
  • Pulse frequency wobbulation is activated (p1810).

What to check

  1. Set a suitable sampling time for the supplementary functions so that 250 µs ≤ p0115[0] ≤ 400 µs holds — for example by setting p0112 and p0115 back to the factory setting.
  2. Upgrade the power unit software and/or hardware for the Smart Mode. Whether the power unit provides the Smart Mode function at all is displayed in r0192 (Power unit firmware properties 1).
  3. Check the modulator configuration p1810: when the software gating unit is activated (p1810.2 = 1 or p1810.13 = 1), the Smart Mode is not permissible. Either deactivate the Smart Mode (p3400.0 = 0) or deactivate the software gating unit.
  4. For A_INF: deactivate the Smart Mode using p3400.0 = 0 and activate closed-loop voltage control with p3400.3 = 1. For booksize power units, note that with a supply voltage p0210 > 415 V only the Smart Mode is possible in the presetting. If DC link voltages above 660 V are permissible in the application, voltage-controlled operation can be activated with p0280, p0210, p3400 and p3510. Note the information regarding p0210 carefully.

Parameters the manual names

  • p0115 — sampling time for supplementary functions: set index [0] into the range 250 µs to 400 µs; the factory setting is a suitable value.
  • p0112 — sampling times pre-setting for p0115: return it to the factory setting together with p0115 to obtain a suitable sampling time.
  • r0192 — Power unit firmware properties 1: shows whether the connected power unit provides the Smart Mode before you upgrade the power unit software and/or hardware.
  • p1810 — modulator configuration: pulse frequency wobbulation is activated here, and bits .2 and .13 activate the software gating unit, which excludes the Smart Mode.
  • p3400 — infeed configuration word: bit .0 = 0 deactivates the Smart Mode; bit .3 = 1 activates closed-loop voltage control (A_INF).
  • p0210 — drive unit line supply voltage: above 415 V only the Smart Mode is possible in the presetting on booksize power units; it also belongs to the settings for voltage-controlled operation.
  • p0280 — DC link voltage maximum steady-state: used to activate voltage-controlled operation when DC link voltages above 660 V are permissible in the application.
  • p3510 — infeed DC link voltage setpoint: set together with p0280, p0210 and p3400 when switching to voltage-controlled operation.

Acknowledging and restarting

F06050 is acknowledged immediately by POWER ON: once the settings above have been corrected, switch the drive off and on again. The drive restarts only after this power cycle.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F06050 mean in SINAMICS?

The infeed power unit does not support the Smart Mode, or pulse frequency wobbulation is activated (p1810). The affected drive objects switch off immediately.

How do I clear fault F06050?

Set a sampling time of 250 µs to 400 µs at p0115[0] (factory setting via p0112), check the software gating unit bits of p1810 (p1810.2, p1810.13) against the Smart Mode, and set p3400.0 accordingly. Then acknowledge the fault by switching the drive off and on again (POWER ON).

Which parameter shows whether my power unit supports Smart Mode?

r0192 (Power unit firmware properties 1) displays the availability of the Smart Mode function. If it is not available there, the power unit software and/or hardware must be upgraded.

Can an A_INF run with voltage control instead of Smart Mode?

Yes — deactivate the Smart Mode with p3400.0 = 0 and activate closed-loop voltage control with p3400.3 = 1. On booksize power units with p0210 above 415 V only the Smart Mode is possible in the presetting; for DC link voltages above 660 V, voltage-controlled operation is set with p0280, p0210, p3400 and p3510.
