F01653SI P1 (CU): PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration error

What it means

F01653 reports a PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration error for using Safety Integrated monitoring functions with a higher-level control — a SINUMERIK or an F-PLC. The drive stores the fault value in r0949; read it as a decimal number, because the decoded value identifies which safety slot of the Safety Integrated data exchange is misconfigured and how. By itself the fault does not switch the drive off. For safety functions that have been enabled, this fault results in a STOP A that cannot be acknowledged.

Why it appears

  • The safety slot used to exchange Safety Integrated data with the higher-level control (SINUMERIK or F-PLC) over PROFIBUS/PROFINET is configured incorrectly on the master side — it is missing, has an unknown format, or has the incorrect length.
  • A PROFIsafe slot is configured in the higher-level F control, however PROFIsafe is not enabled in the drive.
  • The telegram number in the F-PLC does not match the parameterization in the drive (fault value 400, which the manual decodes for S120/S150).

What to check

  1. Check and, if necessary, correct the PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration of the safety slot on the master side.
  2. Upgrade the Control Unit software.
  3. For fault value 250: remove the PROFIsafe configuring in the higher-level F control, or enable PROFIsafe in the drive.
  4. For fault values 231 and 331: in the drive, parameterize the appropriate PROFIsafe telegram (p9611/p9811) to be set on the F-PLC and to be set in p60022, and configure the PROFIsafe telegram matching this parameterization in the F-PLC.
  5. For the G120 (fault values 231 and 331): if p9501.30 = 1 (F-DI via PROFIsafe is enabled), PROFIsafe telegram 900 must be configured; if p9501.30 = 0 (F-DI not enabled via PROFIsafe), PROFIsafe telegram 30 must be configured.

Reading the message value

The drive stores the fault value in r0949, interpret decimal. The family manuals decode slightly different subsets of this list: the G120 manual does not list 240 and 340, and 400 appears only in the S120/S150 manual.

  • 200 — A safety slot for receive data from the control has not been configured.
  • 210, 220 — The configured safety slot for the receive data from the control has an unknown format.
  • 230 — The configured safety slot for the receive data from the F-PLC has the incorrect length.
  • 231 — The configured safety slot for the receive data from the F-PLC has the incorrect length.
  • 240 — The configured safety slot for the receive data from the SINUMERIK has the incorrect length.
  • 250 — A PROFIsafe slot is configured in the higher-level F control, however PROFIsafe is not enabled in the drive.
  • 300 — A safety slot for send data to the control has not been configured.
  • 310, 320 — The configured safety slot for the send data to the control has an unknown format.
  • 330 — The configured safety slot for the send data to the F-PLC has the incorrect length.
  • 331 — The configured safety slot for the send data to the F-PLC has the incorrect length.
  • 340 — The configured safety slot for the send data to the SINUMERIK has the incorrect length.
  • 400 — The telegram number in the F-PLC does not match the parameterization in the drive.

Parameters the manual names

  • r0949 — displays the fault value of this fault; interpret it as a decimal number to find the misconfigured safety slot in the list above.
  • p9611 — SI PROFIsafe telegram selection (Control Unit): used in the drive to parameterize the PROFIsafe telegram that is set on the F-PLC (fault values 231/331).
  • p9811 — SI PROFIsafe telegram selection (Motor Module): parameterized together with p9611 when the drive's PROFIsafe telegram is matched to the F-PLC (fault values 231/331).
  • p60022 — PROFIsafe telegram selection: the PROFIsafe telegram set on the F-PLC must be set here in the drive (fault values 231/331).
  • p9501 — SI Motion enable safety functions (processor 1): on the G120, p9501.30 = 1 (F-DI via PROFIsafe enabled) requires PROFIsafe telegram 900, while p9501.30 = 0 requires PROFIsafe telegram 30.

Acknowledging and restarting

After the PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration has been corrected, acknowledge the fault immediately; POWER ON is the acknowledgement mode given in the manuals. Where safety functions have been enabled, the fault has put the drive into a STOP A that cannot be acknowledged — the configuration error itself must be corrected (see the steps above).

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS fault F01653 mean?

It reports a PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration error for using Safety Integrated monitoring functions with a higher-level control (SINUMERIK or F-PLC). The fault value in r0949, read as a decimal number, shows which safety slot is misconfigured.

How do I fix fault F01653?

Check and correct the PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration of the safety slot on the master side and, if necessary, upgrade the Control Unit software. For fault value 250, remove the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level F control or enable PROFIsafe in the drive; for 231/331, match the PROFIsafe telegram (p9611/p9811, p60022) with the F-PLC.

What does fault value 250 of F01653 mean?

A PROFIsafe slot is configured in the higher-level F control, but PROFIsafe is not enabled in the drive. Either remove the PROFIsafe configuration in the higher-level F control or enable PROFIsafe in the drive.

Why can F01653 not be acknowledged?

When safety functions have been enabled, the fault results in a STOP A that cannot be acknowledged. The PROFIBUS/PROFINET configuration of the safety slot on the master side must be corrected first.
