A33407 — Encoder 3: Function limit reached

A33407 means that Encoder 3 has reached one of its function limits, and the manual recommends a service at this point. Which limit has been reached is shown by the alarm value, and the remaining functional reserve of the encoder can be read out as well. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or with no reaction (N) instead of this alarm.

1. Read the alarm value in r2124 and interpret it as a decimal number — it tells you which function limit the encoder has reached (see the list below).
2. Enter the encoder in p4650 and read its actual functional reserve in r4651 to see how much margin is left.
3. Perform service.
4. Replace the encoder if necessary.

The drive places the alarm value in r2124; the manual says to interpret it as a decimal number:

• 1 — Incremental signals
• 3 — Absolute track
• 4 — Code connection

• r2124 — holds the alarm value of this message; read it as a decimal number to identify which function limit (1, 3 or 4) Encoder 3 has reached.
• p4650 — enter the component number of the encoder whose functional reserve you want to display.
• r4651 — displays the actual functional reserve of the selected encoder, so you can judge how close it is to its limit before ordering the service.

While the condition stands as the alarm A33407, no acknowledgement is required and the drive performs no protective response. If the drive configuration instead raises the same condition as a fault, the manual requires an immediate acknowledgement, and it lists no automatic stop reaction for it on any drive object. In both forms the cure is the same: service the encoder and replace it if necessary.
