What it means
A32462 is reported by Encoder 2 when the analog sensor connected to it has neither channel A nor channel B activated. The drive finds both channels of the sensor switched off in its configuration, so no channel of the sensor is in use. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be output without any reaction (N). A failure of a single channel is reported under its own code — A32460 for channel A, A32461 for channel B — and is not covered here.
Why it appears
- Channel A and channel B are both deactivated for the analog sensor connected to Encoder 2; neither channel is activated in its configuration.
What to check
- Activate channel A and/or channel B for the analog sensor of Encoder 2 in p4670 (Analog sensor configuration).
- Check the encoder configuration in p0404 — the remedy names the index p0404.17 — to verify the setting for the connected sensor.
Parameters the manual names
- p4670 (Analog sensor configuration / Ana_sens config) — activate channel A and/or channel B of the analog sensor on Encoder 2 here.
- p0404 (Encoder configuration effective / Enc_config eff) — the effective encoder configuration; the remedy for this alarm directs you to check p0404.17.
Acknowledging and restarting
This alarm requires no acknowledgement and triggers no protective reaction of the drive. It goes away once channel A and/or channel B has been activated in p4670 and the encoder configuration (p0404.17) has been checked; the same applies when the condition is output as an N message without any reaction.
The same on every family
Every manual that describes A32462 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask
What does SINAMICS alarm A32462 mean?
Encoder 2 reports that neither channel A nor channel B is activated for the connected analog sensor, so no channel of the sensor is in use.
How do I fix alarm A32462?
Activate channel A and/or channel B for the analog sensor in p4670 and then check the encoder configuration in p0404 (the remedy names p0404.17).
Does A32462 have to be acknowledged, and does it stop the drive?
No. The drive takes no protective reaction and the alarm needs no acknowledgement; it goes away once the sensor channels are activated.
Which parameter activates the analog sensor channels for Encoder 2?
p4670 (Analog sensor configuration) — enable channel A and/or channel B there.
