A30044Power unit: Overvolt 24/48 V alarm

What it means

A30044 is raised by the Power Module when the supply voltage of the power unit rises above its upper threshold. For Servo power modules the manual describes the message for the 24 V and the 48 V power supply together ("Power unit: Overvolt 24/48 V alarm"); the descriptions for Vector power modules cover the 24 V supply ("Power unit: Overvoltage 24 V alarm"). Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be issued as fault F30044.

Why it appears

  • The supply voltage of the power unit has exceeded its upper threshold.

What to check

  1. Check the power supply of the power unit. This is the only remedy the manual gives for this message.

Reading the message value

The drive stores the details of the violation in r2124, and how to read it depends on which description of the alarm applies:

  • Servo, "Overvolt 24/48 V": interpret r2124 hexadecimal as yyxxxx hex, where yy is the channel and xxxx the voltage in 0.1 V. yy = 0: 24 V power supply; yy = 1: 48 V power supply. The drive shows the channel and the voltage directly (channel, voltage in 0.1 V).
  • Vector, "Overvoltage 24 V": interpret r2124 as decimal; it holds the 24 V voltage in 0.1 V.
  • For the remaining description the decimal value is stated to be for internal Siemens troubleshooting only.

Parameters the manual names

  • r2124 — alarm value: read it while the alarm is present to see which supply channel violated the threshold and what voltage was measured, interpreted as described above.

Acknowledging and restarting

A30044 appears as an alarm and needs no acknowledgement; the message goes once the power unit supply is back within its limits. Where the drive is configured to raise the same condition as fault F30044 instead, acknowledge that fault after checking the supply, before restarting the drive.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes A30044 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS alarm A30044 mean?

The supply voltage of the power unit has exceeded its upper threshold. On Servo power modules the alarm covers the 24 V and 48 V supplies; the descriptions for Vector power modules concern the 24 V supply.

How do I fix alarm A30044?

Check the power supply of the power unit — that is the remedy the manual gives. The alarm itself needs no acknowledgement and disappears once the voltage is back within limits.

Which parameter shows the alarm value of A30044?

r2124. On Servo read it hexadecimal: yy is the channel (0 = 24 V supply, 1 = 48 V supply) and xxxx the voltage in 0.1 V. For Vector power modules the decimal value is the 24 V voltage in 0.1 V.

Can A30044 also come as a fault?

Yes. Depending on the drive configuration the same condition may be issued as fault F30044, which then has to be acknowledged before the drive restarts.
