What it means
A30048 is a power unit alarm: the feedback signal from a fan indicates a fault. On the G130 and G150 the manual titles the message "Power unit: External fan faulty"; on the S120 and S150 it is "Power unit: fan defective", and there the alarm value identifies which fan signalled. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output with no reaction (N) instead of as this alarm.
Two behaviour notes from the manual apply when r0193.13 = 1: the drive outputs fault F30058 instead of this alarm for heat sink fans if the pulses are inhibited or the fault occurs within 10 s after the fan runs up when the pulses are enabled, and it outputs fault F30059 instead for fans inside the unit if the air intake temperature (r0037[3]) has exceeded a specific threshold.

- The feedback signal from a fan indicates a fault; on the G130/G150 this is the feedback signal from the external fan.
- The fan is defective or blocked.
- The feedback signal is inaccurate.
- The fan power supply is interrupted — the manual limits this cause to the heat sink fan and to the case r0193.13 = 1.
What to check
- Determine the fan involved. On the S120/S150 the alarm value in r2124 (interpret binary) tells you: Bit 0 = 1 points to the heat sink fan, Bit 1 = 1 to the fan inside the device; with power unit firmware version below 5.1 the alarm value is always 0 and the alarm refers to the heat sink fan. On the G130/G150 the fan involved is the external fan.
- Check the fan involved, and replace the fan if required.
- Check the fan power supply and switch it on if required; this step applies only to the heat sink fan and only when r0193.13 = 1.
- If you are using an external fan with feedback, check its wiring (X12.2 or X13.2).
- If you are using an external fan without feedback, check that the feedback terminal wiring on the power unit is connected to ground and make this connection if necessary (X12.1/2 or X13.1/2).
Reading the message value
- The message value carries the fault cause as a binary value; the manual decodes it via the alarm value r2124, interpret binary.
- Bit 0 = 1: heat sink fan.
- Bit 1 = 1: fan inside the device.
- For power unit firmware version below 5.1 the alarm value is always 0; the alarm then refers to the heat sink fan.
- For the G130/G150 the manual lists no message value for this alarm.
Parameters the manual names
- r2124 — alarm value: read it as a binary value to see which fan signalled (Bit 0 = 1 heat sink fan, Bit 1 = 1 fan inside the device).
- r0193 — power unit firmware properties: check r0193.13; when it equals 1, the interrupted fan power supply cause applies to the heat sink fan and the drive substitutes F30058 or F30059 for this alarm under the conditions described above.
- r0037 — Control Unit temperature: index [3] shows the air intake temperature, which decides whether F30059 is output instead for fans inside the unit (when r0193.13 = 1).
Acknowledging and restarting
This alarm requires no acknowledgement and is withdrawn automatically once the feedback signal is plausible again. The manual adds a caveat: a withdrawn alarm does not necessarily mean the cause of the fault has been resolved — it is also possible that the software switched the fan off and can therefore no longer evaluate the feedback signal.
