What it means
F32103 tells you that the amplitude of the zero-mark signal — track R — of Encoder 2 lies outside the tolerance bandwidth. The manuals print two titles for the same condition: “Encoder 2: Signal level zero track (track R) outside tolerance” and “Encoder 2: Amplitude error track R”. The drive initiates the fault when the unipolar voltage level at RP/RN is exceeded or when the differential amplitude is undershot: the response thresholds of the unipolar signal levels are < 1400 mV and > 3500 mV, and the response threshold for the differential signal level is < -1600 mV. Note that the drive only evaluates the signal level when the Sensor Module properties are available (r0459.31 = 1) and monitoring is active (p0437.31 = 1). Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A) or as a message without reaction (N).
Why it appears
- The zero mark signal level (track R) does not lie within the tolerance bandwidth for Encoder 2.
- The fault is initiated when the unipolar voltage level (RP/RN) is exceeded or if the differential amplitude is undershot.
What to check
- Check the speed range — the frequency characteristic (amplitude characteristic) of the measuring equipment may not be sufficient for the speed range being run.
- Check that the encoder cables and shielding are routed in compliance with EMC.
- Check the plug connections and contacts of the encoder cable.
- Check the encoder type — the encoder must be one with zero marks.
- Check whether the zero mark is connected and that the signal cables RP and RN are connected correctly, not connected with the incorrect polarity.
- Replace the encoder cable.
- If the coding disk is soiled or the lighting has aged, replace the encoder.
Reading the message value
- The message value reads “R track: %1”; %1 is the signal level of track R.
- Fault value in r0949, interpreted hexadecimal: yyyyxxxx hex, where yyyy = 0 and xxxx = the signal level of track R (16 bits with sign).
- For orientation: a signal level of 500 mV peak value corresponds to the numerical value 5333 hex = 21299 dec.
- The analog value of the amplitude error is not measured at the same time as the hardware fault output by the Sensor Module, so the fault value can only be represented between -32768 ... 32767 dec (-770 ... 770 mV).
- The signal level is only evaluated when both conditions are satisfied: Sensor Module properties available (r0459.31 = 1) and monitoring active (p0437.31 = 1).
Parameters the manual names
- r0949 — fault value: read the measured signal level of track R here, as the low word xxxx of the hexadecimal value.
- r0459 — Sensor Module properties extended: bit 31 shows whether the Sensor Module properties are available; the signal level for this fault is only evaluated when r0459.31 = 1.
- p0437 — Sensor Module configuration extended: bit 31 must be 1 so that the track R monitoring that raises this fault is active.
Acknowledging and restarting
Once the cause has been eliminated, acknowledge the fault message at the operator panel or in the commissioning tool; the drive does not resume operation until the fault has been acknowledged. If the condition has been configured as an alarm (A) or as a message without reaction (N), the manuals specify neither a reaction nor an acknowledgement for these variants.
