F30950 — Power unit: Internal software error

F30950 is raised when an internal software error has occurred in the power unit. The G120XA manual explains the background: an alarm occurred on the power unit that cannot be interpreted by the Control Unit firmware — this can happen when the firmware on the power unit is more recent than the firmware on the Control Unit. The value stored with the fault points to the fault source and is intended only for internal Siemens troubleshooting, so the manual does not decode it for the user.

• An internal software error has occurred in the power unit.
• On the G120XA: an alarm occurred on the power unit that cannot be interpreted by the Control Unit firmware; this can occur if the firmware on the power unit is more recent than the firmware on the Control Unit.

1. If necessary, upgrade the firmware in the power unit to a later version.
2. On the G120XA the manual additionally refers to alarm A30999 (Power unit: Unknown alarm) and its firmware measures: replace the firmware on the power unit by an older firmware version (r0128). Upgrade the firmware on the Control Unit (r0018). It also notes that, if required, the significance of this new alarm can be read about in a more recent description of the Control Unit.
3. If the error persists, contact Technical Support.

• The fault value is stored in r0949 and must be interpreted as a decimal number. It contains information about the fault source and is meant only for internal Siemens troubleshooting; the manual prints no bit or digit decoding for it.
• On the G120XA an alarm value is additionally stored in r2124, likewise interpreted as a decimal number: the alarm number.

• r0949 — fault value: read it as a decimal number; it holds the information about the fault source of this internal software error.
• r2124 — alarm value: on the G120XA it holds the alarm number belonging to this fault, also read as a decimal number.
• r0018 — Control Unit firmware version: check it when you upgrade the Control Unit firmware, the measure the G120XA manual names for this fault.

The fault reaction switches the drive off, so the drive coasts down and must be acknowledged before it will start again. Clear the fault by switching the drive's power supply off and on again — but only once the cause has been remedied, i.e. after the firmware work on the power unit (and, on the G120XA, on the Control Unit) or once Technical Support has resolved the error.
